This is a new mason bee sunning itself on my patio. It doesn't yet have a blue colour / and some of them never get a blue colour, so this is what it looks like right out of its cocoon.
something i made today on a whim.
I'm going to tuck it in my moleskine as a reminder to explore and observe everything.
A swastika-like mason's mark that appears often on the Abbey stonework, as does a star-shaped one - obviously a pair of good workers!
Mason's mark on one of the pillars in St Michael's chapel of the bell tower at Moissac abbey. The chapel built between 1115 and 1120 is a good example of Norman architecture and each pillar still carries its own mason's mark.
This house was the place where my mom lived before her and my dad were married. Obviously now it is not fit for anyone to live there.
The very top of Mason Bay is about a 30 minute scramble over boulders to a point before you get onto sand. This is the point that needs avoiding at high tide. At this stage, it was 3 1/2 hours from high tide.
