Mason likes to sleep on top of our shoes by the front door. He has never tried to chew on them, which I find completely amazing.

About two years ago, Great-Grandpa gave Mason his first harmonica. Mason was 2 years old. Ever since, Mason has kept this harmonica in a special place in his bedroom. Mason takes it out, off & on and plays his harmonica but never lets his brother touch it.
Our whole family knows that Great-Grandpa never leaves home without his harmonica. If we have a birthday, theirs Grandpa playing Happy Birthday to us and if there's a birthday at a restaurant, my father-in-law will always go over to the persons table and start playing "Happy Birthday". He has done this for years and people just love it.
Every family function that good old harmonica comes out of the pocket for a few songs. Our family just loves it!!
About a month ago, my oldest son, Jeremy had the family over for a cook-out at their new house. We were all sitting outside chatting with the family. My 4yr old grandson (Mason) got up and went into the house....nobody knew where he was going. Five minutes later, here comes Mason but this time he has his harmonica that Great-Grandpa gave him two years ago. Mason then climbs in the chair next to Great-Grandpa and takes out his harmonica. Mason then cuddled up to Great-Grandpa and started to play his harmonica. Of course, Great Grandpa couldn't resist and took his harmonica out of his front pocket(where he always keeps it) and started to play with Mason.....We were all in shock because this was the first time Mason ever did this before ....so in Mason's precious little mind, it must of been something Mason has always wanted to do together with Great-Grandpa.....! It was the cutest thing we have ever seen.
Our family will never forget this unbelieveable moment of special love that Mason has and will always have for his Great-Grandpa and his harmonica.
Today, May 17th, was my due date in 2005. This is when Mason and Avery would have been considered full term ... long after their February 2nd birth. So, today they are a year old "adjusted age". The adjusted age is used often when working with preemies to assess growth and development.
We actually had no intention of doing anything special today, but Jenni picked up treats for all of us on her way in this morning. Mason had a cupcake with an elephant, of course. And because there wasn't one with a frog, Jenni thought a lion was a good substitute.
Somehow, Mason and Avery did more damage with the cupcake than they did with the full-size cake they were given 3.5 months ago. I guess that's an indication of how much growth and development has happened in that time.
And, honestly, we do feed them veggies too! They just don't have this much fun with them.
The Mason High School Marching Band takes the field Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Bands of America Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis, Ohio. Ninety-two bands performed in the national competition. Mason was one of 12 bands selected to compete in the Grand National finals. They finished in 10th place overall. Provided photo
