Wishing all my Flickr friends a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
We scrambled around the lake to a small campsite to eat lunch far from the noisy crowd. There was a cold wind blowing but no rain. Would have been good to have a rain (we had raincoats along) because everything was very, very dry.
We traveled around Mason Lake to a peaceful campsite where we had lunch. A few dozen people were around the bend on the other side of the lake noisily enjoying themselves. Thankfully, we didn't hear them very much in this spot.

The Winter Solstice holds a special significance for us. We chose it as our wedding date. Even though Mason isn’t particularly fond of winter, the Solstice brings us great joy. It marks the return of light to the world, and that symbolism holds deep meaning for us.
This year, as we celebrate our anniversary, the Solstice carries even greater significance. Our little family has experienced five losses, and through that grief, we have learned to lean on one another for comfort and strength. As we remember our loved ones, we also look ahead with hope—welcoming a new year and the light that continues to return.

Wonderful to come home after a day at work to see all the Mason Bees out in the sunshine buzzing around and exploring the bee hotels!
Mason Greenwood is 18 and there was an article about him in today's Times.
That shouldn't come as a surprise as there was an article about him in yesterday's Times, too. And the day before, and the day before that ... and ...

Mason was one of a litter of four kittens, gifted to us in 2005 by a little pregnant stray we named Coconut. Sixteen years of wonderful memories would follow. Thank you, Coconut.

At 15 years of age, two of our four cats passed in 2020. Mason and his sister, Mollie, remain, but are nearly 16. It is time to celebrate their lives more fully.
Wonderful actor. I first saw him play the sinister Mr. Straker in Tobe Hooper's 1979 Salem's Lot when I was a kid.
That same year he also played Dr. Watson in Murder By Decree, a Sherlock Holmes film (with Christopher Plummer as Holmes) about Jack The Ripper, & coincidentally enough, Mason had previously been involved in a documentary on London called The London Nobody Knows & he stopped off at 29 Hanbury Street not long before it was demolished.
This is the only known video footage of the murder site of Annie Chapman.
