Today I had a little wander through Hollywell Dene and spotted these curled up leaves with snow in them. As I was framing my shot a little extra sunlight shone through and brought out the colours just that little bit more.
At Chatsworth, the Bloomer Line crosses the TP&W using its ex-IC trackage. Todays northbound train saw the LTEX 3802 dropped off at Risk with some 20 cars or so, letting the BLOL7561 lead into town. The GP10, ex-CR (reblt by Paducah in '78) but whose heritage stretches back to NYC6002, passes the R2-derivitive signals that guard the TP&W/BLOL diamond. Chatsworth is home to some of the only signals on the Bloomer, though both dwarfs are a little ways out of frame.
I've been trying to shoot the Bloomer for nearly two years now, but I've never had an ounce of luck with them - never knowing what's running and when, and usually if something was running, I was stuck at work. The stars aligned when I had the full week off of work to make time to bring my girlfriend over to the US from England. We had been wandering a bit aimlessly when scanner traffic suggested the Bloomer might be up to something. A little more wandering and before we knew it, we were following the train out of Gibby and northbound. I think she's my good luck charm now!

GOOD LUCK & HAPPY SHOPPING!
I've been trying to nail this shot for a LONG time....but the dragonflies have all been way too fast for me when I've stalked them...
Then this afternoon while I was cleaning out the garage I spied this guy alight one of our canna plants....and I grabbed the camera I always keep in the car (a Penxtax Optio S) and snapped off several shots before he leisurely flew away....
This is better if viewed at the larger/original size where you can see more detail on his incredible wings.....
Prompts: a full body portrait of a woman throwing dice, the dice have clear detailed numbers on them, highly detailed.

I was told by an Indigenous person that finding a feather is considered good luck and a gift from the sky.
I was told never to look for a feather it will find you.

Good Luck Ciaran bear.
The shamrock is the ancient symbol of Ireland which has it's foundation in the legend of St. Patrick.
It is believed that Patrick (who it is claimed, drove all the snakes out of Ireland,) used the shamrock to explain the christian belief of the Holy Trinity.
It is also said that the shamrock is the bringer of good luck to those who wear or carry it.

Where?
Where does the luck go
When she goes?
Lady Luck
When she takes a powder
Ignores you
Makes you gasp
Tortures you
And makes you question everything
How do we bring her back?
Wake her up?
Catch her attention?
Win her blessings
When we need her?
Without seeming desperate
Or craven
Just eager

I noticed that there were many lightning strikes in a certain area and I had my 55-200 lens on because the storm was still far away so I took a chance and zoomed into that same area hoping to get a closer up photo of a strike and I got lucky! :)
“there is no such thing as line in nature, only areas of colour, one against another” - Edouard Manet
So I went to my cabin this weekend and I haven't been in at least a year and I was reminded of the quiet beauty of simply being alone in the forest. When I was younger my sister and I used to dread going to the cabin, it meant a weekend away from friends, technology, yadda ya basically we were naive and stupid and I really kick myself now for not appreciating it more then. We used to play with the neighbor girl, Michelle and we would pretend it was a magical forest, like Narnia, we even named our woods Trinima. Funny how memories come flooding back so casually. I really didn't fare well against the mosquitos, I only took three photos and thankfully I managed to get the shot I wanted and throw my shirt back on. I had to edit out like a million mosquitos that covered my back.
The line-up of three evening planets in the southwest twilight sky, on December 17, 2021 — with Jupiter at top left, Venus at bottom right, and dimmer Saturn in the middle, all defining the line of the ecliptic in the cold winter sky this night. The stars of Capricornus are at centre. The foreground is lit by moonlight from the waxing gibbous Moon in the northeast, opposite this scene which looks southwest.
A single 8s exposure with the Canon RF 28-70mm lens at 39mm, and Canon Ra at ISO 200. Shot in hope of also catching Comet Leonard below Venus but no luck! It was too faint and lost in the wispy clouds. V1 of this image was shot 10 minutes earlier with brighter twilight colors but fewer stars and a darker foreground. Diffraction spikes added with AstronomyTools actions.
I've been seeing a lot of photos of the new, remodeled Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and when I was downtown today I was hoping I'd see some really cool stuff. Nope. This is what I saw: a work crew putting together what looks like a concert or show for later in the week. Just my luck, right?
i was just feeling to upload something,I've made this bottle of luck for a friend and took some photos before giving it to her :),wish everyone have a lucky new year :)

The Maumee Ave bridge in Toledo is the middle of three consecutive bridges under re-construction around CP 288 on the NS Chicago main. On this afternoon around 2PM contractors were vibrating a new footer into the ground when the entire bridge deck collapsed onto the tracks below leaving just the sides suspended. A little more than an hour later there was a swarm of people at the scene with heavy equipment working to remove the debris. While the accident and unplanned outage is certainly bad luck the fact that there wasn't a train underneath it at the time was some good luck for NS. Toledo, OH 4/3/19
Being a witch, Deirdre hopes to bring a bit of misfortune to some superstitious folk she knows. Between the black cat, the umbrella open indoors, the skeleton in the cage, and the broken glass, she just might succeed.
She also happens to be modeling a new look. What do you think?

I was lucky to experience this unique reverse flow fog event close to home on the California coast. A 13s exposure allowed me to smooth out the fog as it flowed over the nearby headlands.
I had some fortuitous events happen in my life recently. I stepped into the pawn shop today and saw this ring. I needed to buy it for some very convoluted reasons.
One. Jimmy Martin.
It reminded of Jimmy Martin for two reasons.
1. He wears gawdy jewelry.
2. The Good Things Out Weigh The Bad. This is a great song he wrote about looking at the positive things in life.
Two. Luck. I believe you make your own luck. You have to go after what you want and make it yours. Keep an eye open for opportunity and attack it!
Anyhow... I bought this ring. If you know me at all, you know that gold and diamonds ain't my style.
I bought this ring to remind me that all it takes is a little perseverance and LUCK. With these two things you can accomplish anything.
ought-nine is looking good for me.
