The morning fog had burned off the valley as I headed east on CA 58 towards Tehachapi, Bakersfield behind me. I wasn't sure how this would come out, the sun was above and directly in front of me, so bumped up the contrast and used my slightly tented windshield and fast shutter to reduce the brightness. Also luck to find one of the few spots on this steep climb big enough to pull my rig off the roadway.

I find dice to be be excellent subjects to shoot.
I have quite a few dice. I collect them as I go.

About five months ago, I was at my local forest preserve just before sunset. As I was leaving, I noticed a raccoon exiting this hole in the tree. Every time I went back to this preserve, I would always check this tree for activity, with no luck. Yesterday, I was there in search of butterflies. About thirty minutes before sunset, I decided to leave, but not before checking this tree again. I set up about twenty feet away from the hole and waited. It was getting pretty dark, and I was just about ready to give up when this guy poked his head out. I got one shot before he quickly retreated. Kane County, Illinois
I caught a peek at a beautiful white-tailed deer as we toured Wildlife Drive at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, June 28, 2023. Lady luck was with me as this deer was going along a canal with high grasses, but stopped at this gap long enough for me to zoom in and catch it from my vehicle. Thank-you, Canon!

Folklore says if you find a ladybug in your home, count the number of spots on her back and that is how many dollars you will find.
Killing a ladybug will bring you sadness and misfortune.
Many farmers consider ladybugs lucky because the eat some of the bad insects that spoil crops.
A ladybug is good luck if they land on your hand on a Sunday and you can count to 22 before she flies away.
It took a long time until I found this beautiful little grebes on Öland. But finally I had luck. They are really very beautiful and we haven't them here.
