Colmore BID Angels in Cathedral Square.

The main Christmas lights attraction near Birmingham Cathedral and Colmore Row.

No Christmas market due to the pandemic / restrictions, so the Colmore BID have put up lights to cheer people up after a hard year.

Sunday morning walk in the quiet parts of town.

I put the zoom lens on the camera, for a change, lots of stepping back as I am used to the 12-32 lens.

Lockdown 2 day 18

22.11.2020

Start of the 2nd Lockdown in England for 4 weeks. So went for an afternoon walk down to Yardley Wood and popped into the Trittiford Mill Pool, just before 3pm.

So was sunburst in the clouds on the Priory Road side of the mill pool.

The bank down to the River Cole was being cut down I noticed as I passed from Highfield Road towards Scribers Lane.

Elaborate ceiling windows in Caxton House.

View from my office window in the afternoon after it got dark.

The staircase lights are on, but The Studio lights were off (closed during the 2nd lockdown).

There are no organised displayed this year due to Covid restrictions.

Someone let off a load of big fireworks opposite my flat. This is hand held so not the sharpest shot, but I was pleased to get a few shots of fireworks this year.

Normally I'd be on the Quay photographing the main Poole display (see photo in comments from last year).

Scaffolding Selfridges after dark with Christmas lights.

The scaffolding has so far only gone up halfway on the Park Street side of the famous building.

Many of the discs have been removed, but now they will be able to do a proper job, take them all off, and repaint blue underneath.

Will eventually be a pink hoardings design on the outside while they replace the discs underneath.

Meanwhile the Christmas lights have gone up on Park Street and Moor Street.

Temporary bus stops for the 35 and 50 on Moor Street. I expect that side to be scaffolded as well.

Also a poppy above. The Remembrance Sunday event outside of Acocks Green Library is cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic and lockdown.

About a week or more to go on this 2nd lockdown, and I popped into Grand Central Birmingham to got to Tesco Express.

The escalators and stairs near the Stephenson Street entrance was closed, so ended up going up an escalator from inside Birmingham New Street Station.

Saw this Christmas tree.

It is Wednesday 4 November 2020. The time 07:30. Tomorrow is the start of England's 'Lockdown 2'. Many businesses will be forced to close by law. Hairdressers are one of these businesses.

Unsurprisingly the normal early Wednesday barber (an Italian in his late 70's is not there).

A limited number of socially distanced seats is available. Others are taking their last opportunity too.

I think I've only had my hair cut 3 times this year (I can't remember much before March to be honest).

Just Eat West Midlands Metro tram 18 from Corporation Street to Stephenson Place.

Seen after dark in the rain from Corporation Street.

Was about to head left onto New Street towards the Bullring.

Usually this time of year would be the Christmas Market, but it was cancelled due to the pandemic / lockdown / social distancing etc.

Stratford-on-Avon Canal at Solihull Lodge.

Near the Canal Bridge on the High Street in Solihull Lodge.

The idea was to walk the towpath towards Yardley Wood, but the towpath was too wet and muddy.

I did go along a bit before turning back for the Solihull Lodge High Street.

Will need to try again in future.

Narrowboat and dinghy - looks like the one I saw in Yardley Wood a month before.

Leicester In Lockdown 2.

First thing in the morning after 9am, had time before work to pop up to Paradise Birmingham to see the three red Christmas Baubles on Centenary Way, before going back towards the Colmore BID.

'Tis the season to stay safe

Probably a bit early than usual to put up the decorations but what the heck, not much else to do!

For my 120 photos in 2020, number 37, Dr Doolittle's animals. I always remember the push-me pull-you from that film and this reminds me of it.

Lockdown 2, Day 19

Pole Quay 23.11.2020

I don't know what the weather is like in the rest of the country today, but here on the South coast it's very wet and windy.

There was a brief window in the weather so went out for a short walk, and some shots, just about managing to hold the camera still.

This massive yacht has moored up on the Quay, I googled it, it's a 203 foot Hoek schooner. I assume it's taken shelter because of the bad weather.

A lockdown 2 walk around Beacon Hill at the Lickey Hills Country Park.

After checking out the skyline, walked down through the woods, with leaves all over the ground and some paths were a bit muddy.

A tamping machine or ballast tamper is a machine used to pack (or tamp) the track ballast under railway tracks to make the tracks more durable. Prior to the introduction of mechanical tampers, this task was done by manual labour with the help of beaters

Near Needless Alley and that red post box.

Almost had a walk along the muddy towpath on the Stratford-on-Avon Canal from the High Street in Solihull Lodge (went along a bit of it).

But ended up walking back to Yardley Wood at road level instead.

It goes via Cotteridge.
