While on my last lockdown Sunday afternoon walk around Shirley, decided to head down Marshall Lake Road past the Sears Retail Park.

To get the update of what Marks & Spencer is like now.

Looks almost finished. M & S Food remains open (even during the lockdown due to food and drink for sale being essential).

The store may open sometime in 2021.

Then the old M & S in Mell Square, Solihull will close down for good.

Christmas lights on Union Street.

No Christmas market this year due to the pandemic and social distancing etc.

Start of the 2nd Lockdown in England for 4 weeks. So went for an afternoon walk down to Yardley Wood and popped into the Trittiford Mill Pool, just before 3pm.

So was sunburst in the clouds on the Priory Road side of the mill pool.

The bank down to the River Cole was being cut down I noticed as I passed from Highfield Road towards Scribers Lane.

Saw a fox unexpectedly, but it ran back into the nature reserve before I could take a photo of it.

Hardly been out on the 2nd lockdown with the return of the "Stay at Home" message. So if I walk, just the local area, and not out every day.

Walked up the Stratford Road towards Shirley, then went down Sandy Hill Road towards Baldwins Lane in Hall Green.

Solihull Village on the corner of Stratford Road and Haslucks Green Road has been finished for months, but no one has moved in yet. Lights are on, but not aware of any staff. Builders have long gone.

Solihull Council needs to reject any future retirement village plans, too many have been or are being built right now and they are not needed. Over capacity.

The architects and developers must be fired / sacked, and go back to the drawing board.

Named after one of the oldest pubs in Warwickshire, which stood close by, until it was demolished in 1929, through road-widening, The Spread Eagle (the first pub) was pulled down in 1929. The green, far from being an age-old local landmark, was created in the early 1930s.

During the lockdown they have been open only for take away. Pubs might have been completely closed.

With Tier 3 coming, these places will remain open for take away only. No sitting indoors, unless the Government reduces the tiers for the West Midlands in mid December 2020 or later.
