This week: Vienna had its epidemic lockdown #4. This time coinciding with the beginning of Christmas holiday season, Advent, we see a peculiar combination of festive emptiness, and crowds of people, where isolation would be imperative. Strange looks…

The album can be found here: 2021 | 52 projects.

During lockdown I decided to dig out my camera and take it out with me on some of my daily walks. Lost a lot of motivation over the last few months but finally getting it back, slowly but surely. Lockdown has definitely helped me just get out and shot anything and everything.

From mid-March for over four months in 2020, we were in lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our only escape was along the country lanes behind our house. Fortunately it was a good spring and there was plenty of flora and fauna about.

During lockdown, I set about making some portraits of my neighbours here on the canal. I made a print for everyone. Some were longlisted for Rankin’s 2020 on Sky Arts, but I don’t think they made the final cut.

In January a local chapter of a national photo organization I belong to did a daylong presentation on tabletop photography. We had a lecture by a still life photographer then a series of setups for us to photo in the afternoon.

I've tried to show how some of the setups were done then some examples.

A portable box fan lying on its back, a scarf tied to a dowel waved it the fan's airstream in front of a black background. Lit by a small front light.

Probably ICM and moving scarf.

Over half of Australia is in lockdown to try to combat an outbreak of Delta (we have low vaccination rates). This is what I see within my 10km bubble from home.

As our lockdown moves into the third week, there's a sense of the old and the new developing. People's habits are slowly changing from old, deep rooted ways of doing things as the new shoots of change force them to search for new ways to adapt to the fast changing landscape.

Frozen in my head by he inability to move in the outside world

Like this small earth figurine behind the fence...

This blanket was a brilliant way to use up all my stash as part of my lockdown-clear up my craft cupboard days of lockdown!

I combined double wools throughout to create a blended look rather than a band of red, band of green etc...this way you can use up every ounce of left over wool and the blending is fab!

I used all the wool from my travels. Wherever I was in the world, I would always buy a ball of wool to remind me of where I have been/what holiday/memory etc and so to combine them into one blanket seamed the perfect project. I used a double moss stitch so which ever side of the blanket you face always looks lovely.... good for the optimistic soul!

I also taught myself how to crochet a picot edge!
