During lockdown, I set about making some portraits of my neighbours here on the canal. I made a print for everyone. Some were longlisted for Rankin’s 2020 on Sky Arts, but I don’t think they made the final cut.
This picture is almost straight out of camera, except for a couple of edits: A small amount of extra sharpness and a soft vignette. I start to shoot with Cinelook picture profile from VisionColor: vision-color.com/products/picture-styles-canon-eos/

During lockdown I decided to dig out my camera and take it out with me on some of my daily walks. Lost a lot of motivation over the last few months but finally getting it back, slowly but surely. Lockdown has definitely helped me just get out and shot anything and everything.

The bridge at Lambhill takes the Balmore Road over the Forth & Clyde Canal.
This is an electrically-operated rolling-lift bridge built in 1930 to replace a wooden bascule bridge. Within the abutment on the left the mechanism for raising the road surface vertically can be seen, although it may no longer be functioning.
The early bridges on the canal were drawbridges, the decks lifted by chains attached to overhead ballast beams, as on Dutch canals; Highland drovers complained their cattle would refuse to cross them.
