Burghfield Lockdown

2 March 2015

In August, we recorded a Lockdown Conversation via Zoom with eight people of different faiths from Birmingham. Everyone shared their stories of faith during the pandemic and how lockdown had impacted on their experiences of worship.

We are very grateful to all the participants for giving up their time to share their stories.

Annie talks about her work with the Christian Music Ministry, and how they have adapted to bring music, and hope, to people of faith through technology.

During lockdown I decided to dig out my camera and take it out with me on some of my daily walks. Lost a lot of motivation over the last few months but finally getting it back, slowly but surely. Lockdown has definitely helped me just get out and shot anything and everything.

25/Jan/2021. Lockdown Walk

At last, a glorious sunny, winter’s day. Very cold, even the slightly salty water at the head of the harbour had frozen, causing a few problems for the young swans. A good day to take today’s Lockdown Walk around the harbour and see what’s about. Nothing too exotic but everything looked good in the sun.

Mid winter so plenty of Brent Geese plus the usual waders: Curlew, Red-Shank and Turnstone around the margins, even a fleeting sighting of a Kingfisher plus a few very common species. So not one Lockdown image today but 15.

This week: Vienna had its epidemic lockdown #4. This time coinciding with the beginning of Christmas holiday season, Advent, we see a peculiar combination of festive emptiness, and crowds of people, where isolation would be imperative. Strange looks…

The album can be found here: 2021 | 52 projects.

(Wien/Stephansplatz)

Early Friday Morning(11/03/2006) a man driving near the Lehi Junior High School saw a young man walking down the side walk with a rifle or shotgun in his hands, he called 911 to report the somewhat suspicious circumstances.

As it turns out, the young man came forward to tell police he was walking along the road with his rifle to go to his friends house to go hunting that morning. The rifle was not in a case but was covered with a sock.

In this extract, Julian talks about the advice given to churches to close at the start of lockdown, and the strangeness of holding services alone.

During lockdown, I set about making some portraits of my neighbours here on the canal. I made a print for everyone. Some were longlisted for Rankin’s 2020 on Sky Arts, but I don’t think they made the final cut.
