Prunus spinosa, blackthorn, early blossom. This is an amalgam of five hand-held images, focus stacked in Photoshop. (I think this is a dogwood but it could be another variety of Prunus.)

Lockdown moments

Bit of light painting experimentation, lockdown is a great time to experiment.

There was a lovely sunset the other evening, but lockdown rules prevented me from going out and finding a scenic spot to photograph it from. So I had to resort to shooting it from a bedroom window!

We've been in lock-down for over 3 weeks now and we have 3 weeks to go.

Slowly starting to go mad as can be seen by my daughter.

Yesterday, Thursday, the Ontario government started a stay-at-home order that will last 28 days and could be extended if the current third wave of the COVID virus does not drop. During this period all nonessential retailers will close to in-person shopping. Indoor dining is prohibited and gyms plus personal care services, except medical offices, are closed. No more than 5 people outdoor gathering is allowed. Our city of Cornwall currently has 133 active cases, our Health Unit reports the 85th fatality and the largest increase posted in 24 hours, possibly due to Easter related infection of the new variant. Number of cases in the local community hospital is up to 17 with 4 in the ICU. Elective surgeries are now being canceled. Cornwall is now declared as a hotspot and hopefully we will get pharmacy to administer vaccination ASAP!

Todays artwork and poem for another gloomy lockdown 2 day.

I find that hands are useful

For lots of different things

Like buttering toast for breakfast

And putting litter into bins

To button up my clothes would be

Quite awkward without hands

I couldn’t buckle up my belt

(I’d use elastic bands)

I never pick my nose of course

But hands would help me to

And I think that I’d need slip on boots

Or maybe slip on shoes

Yes, t’would be quite awkward

If hands were just ‘no shows’

I’d have to cook my dinner

On my back and use my toes.
