Lewis had an overnight with us and this morning and we woke up to "lockdown" which will last for three weeks!! He wasn't his usual happy self when I caught him looking out of his bedroom window! Today, most certainly we will be restricted and I hope, if the weather improves, we will manage a good walk!

As we start another Lockdown, a few of you have asked if we can have another 'Inktober ' style poem. Your wish is my command etc and here it is, along with Andrea's drawing of everyone running for cover!

My first test shoot with the camera. All went well until unloading the film. As I took the camera out of the outer case, the back fell off exposing the film. I hastily rushed to place the camera into a changing bag. Although there were a number of shots lost and some light leakage, I was able to save some photos.
A really unusual camera. When focusing, there is a periscope device that you push down for an enlarged view of the subject, allowing you to focus.
The camera was made by Corfield in Wolverhampton, UK in 1953.
Emily & I did some painting in lockdown, took me back to when she was little, but did enjoy doing them.

Artists notes
Started during the first lockdown and created from materials I already had plus objects from the local environment. All in all part sculptural study of the form of a Hare. But with a nod to the times being out of joint and wildlife ( Real and Imaginary ) Behaving differently and "Badly" a "Mad" march Hare seemed a suitable response to all that was happing.

Kiev 88CM and expired (1991) ORWO Color negative NC-19 roll film, shot this at 20 iso then developed in the correct ORWO color C5168 processing kit, the chemicals expiry date was 13/11/90 but still seemed to work.
Children and across the nation lifts spirits with messages of hope and praise on windows for all to see.

I have a telescope that I rarely take out - not sure why - but I did take it out this evening. It's not an expensive one (Tasco 114mm reflector) but I managed to get this shot of the moon by simply sticking my iPhone into the lens of the telescope. Pretty crude but not a bad result, eh?
Probably wouldn't have even bothered if it weren't for this COVID lockdown period...
Keeping safe and occupied during the first six months of Covid-19 has taken its toll, in wear and tear, of my gloves bought at the beginning of the year.The family has been fortunate in dealing with the pandemic ,so far, and feel desperate for those who have been less fortunate....Hopefully my new gloves will not need the usage borne by my older pair with the understanding that we can all come through the remainder of this pandemic safely and quickly.
The Grassmarket, a large square in the lower part of the Old Town, sitting right below the enormous edifice of Edinburgh Castle. Packed with bars, restaurants, a regular street market, hotels, it is normally thriving with locals, visitors, tourists. In fact normally so busy with students on a pub crawl, stag and hen parties getting drunk and lots of tourists that often locals tend to avoid it or walk quickly through while muttering about "bloody tourists" getting in the way. How things have changed in a few weeks...
Some of the bars have had the windows boarded up as a precaution while they lie closed, which, along with the empty streets, adds to a surreal and unsettling atmosphere. Middle of the afternoon, area should be jumping with people. What strange times we find ourselves in.
Several of the resident pigeons walked up to me and looked up at me, as if to say, come on, where is everyone? No doubt poor things are waiting for people to drop some of the food they are eating in the Grassmarket so they can claim it.
