there was not a sound to be heard,

not a dog stirred

 

and that is the limit of tonight's poetry

The sun's first rays touch an old Voigtjander Prominent, sitting where I'd put it down after dusting and polishing it last night. At least lockdown provides time and stimulus for pleasant activities such as this.

It's a tongue-in-cheek self portrait. Lockdown has not been so bad for me. I'm semi retired so have time to sit and listen to music, read books, write, daydream and think. I'm a lucky man but possessions are not everything in life. Recent restrictions have had an effect on us all. I suppose I have the advantage of being deep down an introvert, happy with my own company if needs dictate. Others are perhaps not so fortunate.

This morning, a little downcast at the prospect of at least a further three weeks of lockdown, I discovered the seasons first camellia blooms. Soft and delicate in form, with a subtle fragrance, my day took a turn for the better.

Due to coronavirus emergency. kindergarten and schools were closed in Italy on March, 5. Since then, Marina could not play with other kids. She has spent almost every day at home, playing alone or with mum and dad.

It is hard for a little kid. It is really hard.
