Café 't Papeneiland became world news when Bill Clinton came to taste the homemade apple pie during his visit to Amsterdam.
The current building dates from 1642, it was restored in the twentieth century and the café was renamed "t Papeneiland" after the former name of the Catholic enclave at the beginning of the Prinsengracht.

I have set myself a lockdown challenge too only take photos in my garden or from my garden. It is going to be interesting to see what effect this has on my photographic skills. With no travelling involved I will be able to take advantage of the change in the light conditions, and hopefully this will help me improve my eye for a composition.

Frost doesn't form as symmetrically as snow, and notice that this isn't a six-sided flake. I loved the bubbles on this one, and the detail on the largest flake. My husband loved the gradated blue.
Classical music is my favorite for weather- or season-related music, including the days of being mostly inside during winter that coincides with the Covid-19 pandemic. Special ones include Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 "Winter Dreams," Op. 13 and Ballet of the Snowflakes (from Le voyage dans la lune) by Offenbach.

With the bulb on my front bike light having blown, my plan to go out and try and get some photos of the fireworks for this years Divali celebrations were scuppered. Despite the terrible weather they were far better than any Guy Fawkes celebrations this year. So I tried to shoot some from the upstairs window instead. I had little luck in getting any fireworks but did some nice night shots as the clouds cleared from the downpour half an hour before.
