The Rock of Cashel.
According to local mythology, the Rock of Cashel originated in the Devil's Bit, a mountain 20 miles (30 km) north of Cashel when St. Patrick banished Satan from a cave, resulting in the Rock's landing in Cashel. Cashel is reputed to be the site of the conversion of the King of Munster by St. Patrick in the 5th century.
The Rock of Cashel was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years prior to the Norman invasion. In 1101, the King of Munster, Muirchertach Ua Briain, donated his fortress on the Rock to the Church. The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe. Few remnants of the early structures survive; the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries.

I finish the day by meeting the Canadian ladies at Au Bont Du Monde for dinner. I have local fish in a vanilla sauce and it tasted great, probably the best meal I have had all holiday.
Hanga Roa is the main town, harbour and capital of the Chilean province of Easter Island. It is located in the southern part
of the island's west coast, in the lowlands between the extinct volcanoes of Terevaka and Rano Kau.
The population of 3,304 (2002 census) comprises 87 percent of the total population of the island. For much of the twentieth
century, the rest of the island was leased to the Williamson-Balfour Company and closed to the Rapanui; in 1914, the
population of Hanga Roa was just 250 and the rest of the island was inhabited by large populations of sheep.
The island's main avenue, Avenida Atamu Tekena (formerly Avenida Policarpo Toro), is the heart of the town. Many stores,
hotels, restaurants, and the island's only supermarket and pharmacy are found alongside this road. In 1998, the road was
renamed after nineteenth century Rapanui hero Atamu Te Kena; it had previously been named after Captain Policarpo Toro, the
Chilean Naval officer who annexed Easter Island to Chile in 1888.[1] The island's museum and also the Roman Catholic church,
are located in the center of town. With the advent of the internet and the expansion of communication services by the Chilean
government, many internet cafes and even an automated teller machine (ATM) have appeared in recent years.
Easter Island (Rapa Nui: Rapa Nui, Spanish: Isla de Pascua) is a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the
southeastern most point of the Polynesian triangle. A special territory of Chile annexed in 1888, Easter Island is widely
famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapanui people. It is a World Heritage Site
(as determined by UNESCO) with much of the island protected within the Rapa Nui National Park. In recent times the island has
served as a cautionary tale about the cultural and environmental dangers of overexploitation. Ethnographers and
archaeologists now argue that the introduction of diseases carried by European colonizers and the slave raiding[4] that
devastated the population in the 1800s had a much greater social than environmental impact.

Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis) trying to steal fresh fish from people, cleaning it on the seaside after successful fishing.
The past 7 days have added up to a very lousy week. My racecar is giving me fits and it is supposed to be raced Saturday and Sunday. So apparently to make up for it and to change my attitude several of the neighbors dropped by. Sure wish I knew what this bird was. Preliminary investigation points to a mountain bluebird. If you know birds, please enlighten me. Sorry for the view but grabbed the camera and shot through the screen
