I was trying to get the white balance to play nice on the phone to bring out the beautiful autumnal colours at the Clifton Bridge. This looks a bit heavily tinted, but it will serve.

India tiger safari trip.

Kanha was a bit of a dissapointment as there was heavy flooding, especially in the core zone, so noone was allowed in.

Normally we were supposed to have 3 game drives in the core zone. We did only one in the bufferzone, but the animals were very scarce. In the afternoon it was raining so heavily that we couldn't even go out and our second game drive was cancelled.

So the second day we cancelled our third game drive and visited a local village instead.

We would not have been allowed in the core zone anyway, and we feared the bufferzone would be just the same as the day before.

Before the plow came through the second time.

White Mercedes SL Coupe at a Local Classic Car show, this coupe would be a favourite of mine. A Grand Tourer made for elegant cruising.

We are lucky enough to be within driving distance of several volcanos....Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and this one is Mt. Hood. Several weeks of snow already and the mountain is open for skiing. You can actually ski year round on the Palmer snowfield. A lot of our olympic athletics train there.

Queenie's neighbor on the train. The train we took to Kandy was for locals. It was a good experience.

We had local fever at #ThirdThursMIA: Get Local.

We tuned in to live local music from Dérobé Dance Band presented by the Local Current, we discovered local connections in the MIA’s global collection, and sampled local food offerings from the MIA’s new food vendors.

We also met MN Artists Exhibition Program artist Chad Rutter at his book launch for Flood Music and made our own MN-style art to show our neighborhood pride with a pennant.

We shopped local and meet the makers behind The Bow Tie Shoppe and Marked Leather and connected with the local Whittier neighborhood offerings.

We took in local Coffee House Press author/illustrator Eric Hanson‘s MIA library residency presentation and listened to and remix the collection as interpreted by MN musicians.

Check out upcoming Third Thursdays.

Lots of changes happening on the Thayer North Sub. New signalling will be installed along with PTC. Rail, ties and ballast as well. The South Local got an upgrade in power recently in the form of a pair of consecutively numbered SD60M's. Here's 8195 leading the 8196 and a 2013 on a hefty South Local for West Plains. After a hot nights sleep without A/C (the only night without A/C) we set off into the heat again!

Decided to get our bearings and spend a day in Rhodes Town.

The bus dropped us off near the New Market Hall - a collection of stalls selling touristy items.

Then we headed to the harbour front - there was a slight breeze which was welcome - and had a wander round there.

Then it was off into Rhodes Old Town. Very beautiful and historic and well worth a visit (and we revisited a few times).

Walked up Ippoton to the Palace of the Grand Masters. Decided we weren't bothered about going inside, and instead paid 5 euro to climb a clock tower which gave us a decent view over Rhodes Old Town.

Decided to have a relatively early evening and headed to a Greek place which used the trees as shade. I had a great Mousaka, and we got free pudding of chocolate cake (possibly because we were the first guests of the evening and they were pleased to see us).

We left a bread basket (made from padded material, with an olive pattern) behind and only realised as we got the bus home. Fortunately the very honest staff found and kept it and we were able to collect it the next day.
