Mombaruzzo
Mombaruzzo (Mombaruss in piemontese) è un comune italiano di 1.146 abitanti della provincia di Asti in Piemonte, il più orientale della provincia.
Storia.
Il primo documento che testimonia l'esistenza di Mombaruzzo è una pergamena del 999, che tratta di una donazione di terre alla chiesa d'Acqui "in Montebarucio Castello". Una seconda citazione si ha in una donazione di terra del 1014 a favore del monastero di San Benigno di Fruttuaria.
Nel medioevo Mombaruzzo, legata ai marchesi del Monferrato, era un punto di passaggio per le merci che dai porti di Voltri e Savona erano dirette nell'entroterra. La prosperità di Mombaruzzo proseguì fino a quando Genova assoggettò Savona e nel 1528 ne interrò il porto. La nobiltà mombaruzzese chiese e ottenne la cittadinanza di Casale Monferrato, mentre l'indigenza del resto del paese è ben riscontrabile nelle numerose petizioni che gli uomini di Mombaruzzo indirizzavano ai marchesi del Monferrato per ottenere degli sgravi a causa del cattivo stato in cui versava il paese e la popolazione.
Il 20 marzo 1625 i francesi entrarono a Mombaruzzo per la seconda volta, compiendo ogni tipo di atrocità. Nelle cronache locali infatti si legge che le truppe francesi, forzato il portone della chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena, passarono a fil di spada tutti quelli che erano dentro, tanto che il sangue raggiunse un pozzo medioevale posto a cento metri di distanza, ancora oggi presente nei pressi del Vicolo Scaletta.
Nel 1641 circa 700 soldati fra italiani e francesi delle truppe che assediavano Cuneo si ammutinarono perché non ricevevano le paghe e si portarono a Mombaruzzo, dove si rinchiusero nel ricetto. Il marchese Del Vasto, al soldo degli spagnoli, si accampò nei pressi delle mura di Mombaruzzo e con sette cannoni bombardò una parte consistente di mura. Vennero anche scavate delle gallerie per far saltare le mura con esplosivi, ed una di esse è ancora presente. Entrati nel ricetto con la forza, gli spagnoli uccidevano tutti gli ammutinati. Passata con il resto del Monferrato sotto i Savoia, Mombaruzzo conobbe una maggiore tranquillità.

The celebration is about recognizing the ranching sector’s contribution to communities throughout the province, and acts as an unofficial kickoff to grilling season in B.C.
The Government is creating opportunities for BC ranchers, which includes export markets, but also involves growing local markets through efforts including Buy BC, Grow BC, and Feed BC.

Pilgrim Street in Newcastle is the original north-south route through the city, leading onto the Tyne Bridge. Some older buildings along its eastern side have been earmarked for demolition while others are being refurbished. Bell's Court and Wellington Place are alleys leading to a cleared area now used as a car park, the access to the rear of some buildings and the main entrance to an old warehouse that was once a practice venue for local musicians and artists.
Looking north up Pilgrim Street, with the eastern side being prepared for redevelopment. The scaffolding surrounds buildings being renovated and saved. The wrecking ball is just around the corner for some of this familiar view.
