This is one place where one can have a peaceful walk and have plenty of space within urban San Diego, California. It is the road that leads from the Nature Center to The Old Mission Dam that is a part of The Mission Trails Regional Park that is one of the largest of its kind within the contiguous United States. Its about 4 miles to the dam and back but if one goes past the dam there is a trailhead that will lead to the grasslands above the dam and that can add more distance by doing the different loops that will bring one back to the dam and then back on the road to The Nature Center.

This Patriot who is my personal hero for the day got a visit from the airshow police after doing a pass 20' over the taxiway at about 275kts and about 75' from the crowd!

My son got a hold of this pitch for a nice line drive to the outfield.
It's slightly front focused but close enough for youth baseball hobbyist photography.
The 200mm F2 is fantastic for youth baseball. Narrow depth of field really helps separate the batters from the fencing in the background.

When one kid gets some face time on Flickr, the others want theirs.
I've tried to teach my kids to handle critters rarely (which the one pictured here doesn't like) and, when actually handling, as gently as possible, minimizing capture anxiety and physical injury. When my daughter initially caught five-lined skinks, they'd always detach their tails in response to the rough handling. As you can see here, she's learned to be a bit more gentle, although at least half of the skinks still leave their encounters with her without their tails.

Part one of a two part series on a local mall that is on its last legs. The series starts off in the various parking lots around the mall. I was really drawn to the play of light. All the lots were pretty much empty so I could take my time and not worry about getting run over.
