I have lots of different home-made plexiglass shapes but always seem to be drawn to the plain rectangular shape or the hoop. I have been taking a couple of small shapes out with me recently as they fit in with all my other gear but have not been inspired to paint with them as I find it takes a lot of concentration and time to create something I'm happy with. So drawing on inspiration from my LP friends, I set up my trusty circuit board and fixed the small "flame" plexi shape to a wheel attached to a tripod and using the Ryu's Lightworks V2 torch and my SonyA7iii mounted on a rotation gimbal, I rotated the flashing blade and capped between each of the 8 points of rotation using a Samyang 14mm lens. This had been preceded by a shot of the circuit board using a Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 with macro extension tubes, then lens capped and swapped mid-exposure for the Samyang. Chuffed at the 1 successful attempt. Packed up and a cup of tea.

Another sunrise image from last weeks visit to Susan Gilmore Beach, NSW; Australia.

Formerly, locally infamous as a nudist beach; here lovely golden light is being cast across the weed covered rocks and the cliff face in the distance!

Please enjoy!!

Have a fantastic day and week!!

X-T1 RAW File in Photos.app for Mac b/w Conversion, Cropping and sone Lightwork.

I drew out my vision of a synapse on cardboard then back lit it with my convoy torch gelled blue. Next the ryus lightworks modded torch gelled red with the black fibers attached to that. Waved that in front of the Pentacon 28mm. Quick swap to the Minolta 50mm 1.7 and swapped the cardboard synapse for the server pcb. Side lit in red then blue and back lit in green.

Shot during a single long exposure sooc.

Having a good old fashioned faff in the kitchen. No ideas so got the camera out and cracked on.

Arm back-lit with a tool I made for calligraphy which I'm yet to do any calligraphy with then a good waft of the Ryus Lightworks Edition modded super torch.

Sooc barring a crop to get rid of my washing machine and fridge....Ohhhh for a studio.

Rotating a light painting brushes umicorn blade whilst simultaneously rotating the camera. It was kind of like rubbing your head and patting your tummy.

This one got first choice as I liked the separation between the outer and inner.

Usual background lighting, cap on and fill half the arm with a blue gel then the other with orange on the black fibers. Shot using the Pentacon Auto 29mm at F4 for the back light and f 8 for the fibers. Awesome strobe mode provided by the Lightworks modded torch and fibers by www.lightpaintingbrushes.com

Faffing about with light blades again, inspired by the incredible work of Chris Searle.

8 rotations of the blade on the rotation jig, each after 8 turns of my crt handle.

This curved blade always seems to give a very organic light form regardless of the pitch and angle of the blades rotation.

A proof of concept photo I attempted based on an earlier photo I did. Decided the orb with arms would be even more menacing with some hands reaching for the viewer. Not my usual clean edit as my settings were off and a lot of background noise is present, requiring a reshoot very soon!!
