Another average day for the local NYSW crew. SD45-2 # 3618 leads a cut of tankers and hoppers into Oakland, New Jersey. The trains stops here to set cars on the main, to then clear the switch to drill the industry.

Session with LED Eddie (including a quick meetup with Ubiquitous Images) at a bizarre unlit underpass.

Top marks to Eddie for bringing good tea and acting as a human lens cap between lightwork. Battery died halfway through the shot so this is two camera jpgs merged using Nikon's image overlay feature. Cakes were sourced by me, alongside some bonus Cadbury Dairy Milk with Oreo pieces. Maybe that's where the purple theme came from... ?

Go North East's Chester-le-Street based "Angel" branded Volvo B5LH/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 6069 (NK62 CZA) is pictured here at the company's Chester-le-Street Depot, alongside "National Express" branded Volvo B9R/Caetano Levante 7117 (FJ60 KVO). 17/10/15

Lumiere returns with a spectacular raft of installations and projections to illuminate Durham's buildings, streets and public spaces. Local and international artists, lighting designers, and community groups will breathe new light into the city with a breathtaking series of lightworks.

Those travelling from Birtley and Chester-le-Street can get to Lumiere easily with Go North East. Their "Angel" 21 service is planned to operate at least every 15 minutes throughout the evening, with some extra journeys terminating at Newcastle Bank in Birtley.

After a short walk towards the car we took a little detour to the far end of Headstone Tunnel. I've not visited here for ages mainly due to the killer hill you have to negotiate on the way back to the car. The main draw was the cage to stop rocks falling on peoples heads. I think its a cool frame to an lp image so we set up there.

Fired the shutter with my BLF Q8 torch on full power gelled purple. Walked towards it whilst Paulo stood still whilst blowing vape. Let it burn in for 20 or so seconds and torch off. Next was the black fibers and the Ryus Lightworks torch all around Paulo and along some of the surfaces of the cage. Quick aperture change to F22 for the starbursts and another change to 5.6 with the fibers gelled orange about 20 cm from the lens for the spores.

Theres an old railway cutting not too far from mine used as a trailway its a great dark spot. I shot this using a Soligor 28mm lens swapping the aperture from f11 for the telidoscope to f8 for the bloom using the Ryu's lightworks V2 torch and f5.6 for the area lighting with a yellow gel. All in one exposure, as usual. Telidoscopic 22-02-2019ps-3

Photo Performance with Light

(Philipp, Marius and me)

There is no photo manipulation. This picture comes out of the camera as it is here. All effects were done with light effects during the exposition.

I had a short window of time this evening where I could sit and watch tv or get the camera out. The camera won as you can see. I have a sneaky suspicion that getting out of the 365 habit will be a little harder than expected. I've institutionalised myself, if that is the term I'm searching for.

Anyway for as long as it remains a stress relief then I'll crack on with a shot per day.

Beauty dish from above, 1 x Yongnuo 560iv from below with snoot and the same colour gel as the LP Brushes sword which I have modded with some electrical tape. Ryus Lightworks vii torch on brightest and highest frequency strobe fired through the sword.

Ola my myhem in studio it is really hard to figure out all light work on my own, but I am hoping to learn something from it, anyway :)

Have good week

I have lots of different home-made plexiglass shapes but always seem to be drawn to the plain rectangular shape or the hoop. I have been taking a couple of small shapes out with me recently as they fit in with all my other gear but have not been inspired to paint with them as I find it takes a lot of concentration and time to create something I'm happy with. So drawing on inspiration from my LP friends, I set up my trusty circuit board and fixed the small "flame" plexi shape to a wheel attached to a tripod and using the Ryu's Lightworks V2 torch and my SonyA7iii mounted on a rotation gimbal, I rotated the flashing blade and capped between each of the 8 points of rotation using a Samyang 14mm lens. This had been preceded by a shot of the circuit board using a Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 with macro extension tubes, then lens capped and swapped mid-exposure for the Samyang. Chuffed at the 1 successful attempt. Packed up and a cup of tea.

View On Black

Another sunrise image from last weeks visit to Susan Gilmore Beach, NSW; Australia.

Formerly, locally infamous as a nudist beach; here lovely golden light is being cast across the weed covered rocks and the cliff face in the distance!

Please enjoy!!

X-T1 RAW File in Photos.app for Mac b/w Conversion, Cropping and sone Lightwork.

I drew out my vision of a synapse on cardboard then back lit it with my convoy torch gelled blue. Next the ryus lightworks modded torch gelled red with the black fibers attached to that. Waved that in front of the Pentacon 28mm. Quick swap to the Minolta 50mm 1.7 and swapped the cardboard synapse for the server pcb. Side lit in red then blue and back lit in green.

Shot during a single long exposure sooc.
