Uberfaff tonight as I was in the mood after a long week. Macro rings for the server innards, lit obliquely from right and left in red and blue then from behind with my torch. Lens cap on and removed the macro rings and put the Pentax back on. Tripod 2 set up about 6 feet in front of the camera with a bracket mounted on it to hold the LP Brushes circle blade. I rotated the blade 360 degrees then the camera 90 with the Ryus Lightworks torch on full power and super strobey mode. Repeated 4 times then tilted the blade and did it again but started from plus 45 degrees. Lens cap on and moved the tripod a couple of feet closer, changed focus then did an 8 way rotation of the green light pen. Lens cap on again and changed aperture to f5.6, removed the cap and swept the 3d animation courtesy of Hugo B from left to right to add a little texture.
Raw conversion in LR with some minor tweaks and a 16:9 crop.

Out in the wilds with Chris T tomorrow and I can't wait...it's been too long.

After a short walk towards the car we took a little detour to the far end of Headstone Tunnel. I've not visited here for ages mainly due to the killer hill you have to negotiate on the way back to the car. The main draw was the cage to stop rocks falling on peoples heads. I think its a cool frame to an lp image so we set up there.
Fired the shutter with my BLF Q8 torch on full power gelled purple. Walked towards it whilst Paulo stood still whilst blowing vape. Let it burn in for 20 or so seconds and torch off. Next was the black fibers and the Ryus Lightworks torch all around Paulo and along some of the surfaces of the cage. Quick aperture change to F22 for the starbursts and another change to 5.6 with the fibers gelled orange about 20 cm from the lens for the spores.
Session with LED Eddie (including a quick meetup with Ubiquitous Images) at a bizarre unlit underpass.
Top marks to Eddie for bringing good tea and acting as a human lens cap between lightwork. Battery died halfway through the shot so this is two camera jpgs merged using Nikon's image overlay feature. Cakes were sourced by me, alongside some bonus Cadbury Dairy Milk with Oreo pieces. Maybe that's where the purple theme came from... ?

Lumiere returns with a spectacular raft of installations and projections to illuminate Durham's buildings, streets and public spaces. Local and international artists, lighting designers, and community groups will breathe new light into the city with a breathtaking series of lightworks.
Those travelling from Birtley and Chester-le-Street can get to Lumiere easily with Go North East. Their "Angel" 21 service is planned to operate at least every 15 minutes throughout the evening, with some extra journeys terminating at Newcastle Bank in Birtley.

Photo Performance with Light

There is no photo manipulation. This picture comes out of the camera as it is here. All effects were done with light effects during the exposition.
I love using Ryu's Lightworks V2 torch. So many different modes, it's not until you have a play around that all sorts of different effects can be made. I set up the wheel-on-tripod tool with a HM plexiglass tool, gelled pink and a rave -wand (whoop whoop). Set the V2 to a slow flash strobe. Th Sony A7ii was set up on the camera rotator and was uncapped every 90 degrees around 360, spinning the wheel each time.

I light painted this design in my back yard using a home-made acrylic blade edge-lit with a flashlight set in strobe mode. It was done in a single exposure of 206 seconds. The orb itself is about 6 feet in diameter.
A shiny new torch landed on my doorstep today from Dennis Ryu Bar and Ryus Lightworks. Its an awesome piece of kit with multiple different strobe and flash modes and modded by his own fair hands. You're a genius.. Thank again dude. After getting to grips with it a little I happened upon this cool effect using the black fibers. I then spotted another kind gift out of the corner of my eye. This awesome Lightpainting Is Not A Crime T-shirt kindly given to me by Frodo whilst in Belgium.
Put the two together and number 110 is done. Cheers again for the kind gifts fellas.
Ola my myhem in studio it is really hard to figure out all light work on my own, but I am hoping to learn something from it, anyway :)

Having a good old fashioned faff in the kitchen. No ideas so got the camera out and cracked on.
Arm back-lit with a tool I made for calligraphy which I'm yet to do any calligraphy with then a good waft of the Ryus Lightworks Edition modded super torch.
Sooc barring a crop to get rid of my washing machine and fridge....Ohhhh for a studio.

Faffing about with light blades again, inspired by the incredible work of Chris Searle.
8 rotations of the blade on the rotation jig, each after 8 turns of my crt handle.
This curved blade always seems to give a very organic light form regardless of the pitch and angle of the blades rotation.
