We went hiking in the hills behind Palo Alto in the Portola Valley, California. The Fern Loop Trail is scenic and secluded, with fern along the way.

I processed a balanced and a realistic HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, desaturated the image, added sepia, and recovered 10% of the color version to give the scene an old postcard look. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I was drawing a blank tonight so I took myself off to a darkened room and made this. Its a combo of a couple of shots from this 366 inspired by the sublime work of R Digi Mart Barras.

Last year we went hiking along the coast of Santa Cruz, California. At the lighthouse we met a group of people playing drums and juggling with fire. I took this shot from around the corner, you can see the fire dancers in the back. A parked car just turned on the headlights, which gave this interesting lights and shadows.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, desaturated the image, and carefully pulled the curves.

The Golden Gate Park in San Francisco has a lot of diversity. Besides museums and car-free zones there is a lot of greenery. When we walked through the park I found this play of light and shadows of bark on a tree trunk.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, taking the paintery for the focus area, carefully pulled the curves, made the shadows slightly colder, and the highlights slightly warmer to make the scene pop.
