On Friday we attended the Stanford Powwow at the Stanford University campus, California. Indigenous people of America gather from all over the USA and Canada. Groups of many different tribes arrange in a big circle. The tribes drum and chant, one group after the other, while dancers in traditional dress dance in the center of the circle. Elders judge the performances - a friendly competition. We could feel the energy on the field, a real uplifting experience! This is the Sharp Shooter group. I met tribe leader Jeremy on the left for the first time in 2018. It was nice catching up after a year.

I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California, was recently open at night for cherry blossom viewing. It was a a wonderful experience, the drizzling rain contributed to the mystical atmosphere. At the center of the garden is a pond with a wooden arch bridge.

I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from two RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate your critical feedback.

I spent a day with the San Francisco Pride, a celebration by/for LGBTQ people. It was a colorful event, literally and figuratively. It felt good to be among people with joy, inclusiveness and openness. This person danced with colorful drapes to celebrate the occasion - he was pretty good at it. I captured him with the sun and the San Francisco City Hall in the back. Celebrate the moment, my friends!

Today we had a BBQ party in our backyard with friends. The sun was low when I carried the glasses out. Thinking of an opportunity for a bokeh shot I grabbed my Sony A7 II, which already had the f/0.95 vintage Dream Lens on.

A quality evening out tonight on the Monsal Trail in Chee Tor tunnel. A first meet up with Phill Fisher along with Chris T and Neil R. First choice was Padley Gorge but the weather wasn't playing so a swift detour here.

Lots of fireworks and back lighting provided by Chris' new X21.2R which is a proper beast. This one was a little over cooked so had to drag the exposure back a little in LR. This is a double silhouette but one has almost vanished inside the bedlam.

Exposed the first two silhouettes then Chris set a firework spinning on his drill taped to a length of aluminium whilst I rotated the camera a full 360.

A superb night with like minded folks always does the trick.

A top class night out to my favourite haunt with Rich this evening.

First shot I did was to replicate my "This is not a drill" shot in camera. I achieved my goal but it wasn't quite as polished as my photoshop creation so this one edged it.

Macro extension tube with the Samyang for the PCB. Mid-exposure lens swap to the tokina @ 16mm for the backlit silhouette.

Knocked the highlights back a little in LR and jobs a good un.

Top night as always where once more we both came away with shots we were happy with.

From the Series: "Living With My Soul"

A cool but midge ridden mooch around Padley Gorge last night with my mate Paulo. I had planned on another shot on the funky bridge but the midges were out in force so had to move away from the water to the woods. This one just grew from a previous shot. This was the best of a bad bunch but its something to work from in the future.

This is number 211 of my 366.

Another shot I hadn’t posted from some time ago. This and the shot before it where from when I was trying to experiment with lights and shadows. I think the reason I did not post this particular pic was because it didn’t turn out exactly with what I had in mind. Now that I’ve had the time to forget my original thoughts on the pic, I actually like it.

Sometimes I definitely overthink!

This photo was taken using an M.Zuiko 14-42 Pancake lens and post-processed in Lightroom and Nik's Silver Efex Pro for the (almost) black & white rendering.

Awesome looking rock formations and spires at the top of the Cathedral Rock hike. The glow from the rock faces almost made it seem like they created light from within.

Just me and the wee man on this mornings walk so off to my favourite tunnel to revisit a shot I've done before but never with just Riley. He loves it in here and the nearby Lime Kiln. Cant wait to get him out with me to such spots after dark for some lp.

Deliberately blew out the background again and left lots of shadowy areas as I knew I wanted to overlay the bokeh shot I had in reserve. Overlaid in ps once then flipped on the horizontal and overlaid again.

Freak of Nature è l'artista che lascia il segno sui negozi sfitti delle città. Linee rapide e quasi stilizzate, che compongono un fascio simbolico di canne verdi di bambù sui luoghi abbandonati.

Freak of Nature is the artist who leaves his mark on the vacant shops of the cities. Rapid and almost stylized lines, which make up a symbolic bundle of green bamboo canes on abandoned places.

I am always chasing light and light is always an important element dominant in my works.
