In June I went for a 10 km hike in the Swiss Alps along a ridge separating Appenzell and St. Gallen. I took a gondola lift from Frümsen, then hiked south when the clouds just started to clear up. Usually the light is not that good in midday, but that time we had an interesting play of lights and shadows.

I processed a balanced, a paintery and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, then desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive feedback.

I joined a perception photo walk by master Jerry Downs at the De Young Museum located in the Golden Gate Park of San Francisco. We walked inside and outside of the museum. While inside I captured the shadow of this artwork hanging from the ceiling.

This artwork is by Ruth Asawa; see her de Young collection.

I processed a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, and carefully pulled the curves.

Venezia, novembre 2023

During the stay at home period we often take a walk in the neighborhood. I found this interesting tree, trimmed and ready for summer. If you look at life, sometimes you get trimmed, but that does not mean you get restricted. It's an opportunity for grow stronger.

I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a smooth HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

We went to see the Hanami, the cherry blossom at Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. The garden is open at night while the cherry blossoms last; visit only by advanced reservation.

I processed a realistic, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from four RAW exposures, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

The lines, angles, and geometry is pretty spectacular early in the morning in my office building. I get a lot of questions from my co-workers on why I brought a camera in to work. When I explain that I wanted to photography the building in the morning, the usual response is a puzzled look. I guess they aren't looking up...

If Madonna had "4 minutes" to save the world, I had 6 hours and 19 minutes!! This is how my Friday ended for me!! How about yours? If you're viewing this via your "favorites" with only 1 or 5 pictures at the time, like I usually do myself, please note you'll be missing a lot as there are 15 pictures in this series. Go to my photostream, or my blog, where music is included and a few extras... :

During COVID lockdown we headed to the Napa Valley in northern California. It's famous around the world for the wineries and wine. That time we did not go for wine tasting, but to enjoy the fall colors. We grabbed coffee and cake in St Helena, where I noticed this unique old style gas station.

We went to San Francisco, first for sunset near the Golden Gate bridge, then for the moonrise. Our first stop was the Sutro Heights park at Sea Cliff. The sun was low, casting nice shadows.

Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, California, has a small bamboo forest. There is a path with a bench. The bench was wet after the rain.
