Question, does this look oversaturated to you? It looks just right on my laptop and horrible on my desktop. How does it look on your computer?
This was the last photo I took on Saturday night before packing my gear up. My tripod is broke so it only extends to half its normal height and the lightning was almost entirely over the horizon (making the short tripod even more annoying). So I decided to give it one more shot before calling it an evening, and got this. I toyed with the idea of cropping it, but I really like the clouds and don't want to lose them.
A slow moving complex of cells took full advantage of the plentiful energy around the Great Lakes and produced a ton of lightning. This was one of about 10 bolts I managed to catch back on July 10th, 2020.

The scale is humbling, can you spot the herd of cattle? Captured with a DIY lightning trigger June 11 near Bar U ranch, AB
One of my favorite things to do this time of year is to sit on the beach in the evening and watch the storms off the coast. The air is cool and clear on shore, but violent storms are raging out over the water. The lightning rivals any fireworks display.

I got a chance at some lightning attempts this morning.( inside my garage). This one was a little too close for my liking. Not all that great of a shot, but still it was a blast trying.
It takes a bit of courage to fly amidst a thunderstorm nearby. And I was lucky to capture the lightning in my frame as I was flying near Singapore Flyer. The lightning flashes were too near that I only hovered around 30m high.

I set out at 4am to shoot some new marketing content for a regular client at the Antioch, CA marina.
Well, as luck would have it, just after I framed up my shot, a burst of cloud to ground lightning struck directly behind the building. There was not a hint of any lightning after that, so I was pretty sure I was done for the day, as none of the subsequent photos were anywhere near as exciting as this one, lol.

Some passing storms in northeast victoria - was lucky to capture this lightning as the storm was passing by the Lake in Benalla
Taken earlier this month, this is just a 5 stacked image of the best lightning flashes during this storm. Lightened in Photoshop.

My first ever lightning photos.
I went down to the beach to have a quiet dinner and shoot a few sunset pics. A typical summer storm rolled in from the south, moving off shore. I must have shot 40-50 pictures until I got two strikes. They are not the best, but I am realy happy to have finally taken a lightning picture. I will have to read up on suggested settings...
Next time I will bring a tripod.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my photo..... Mike
I had originally not anticipated shooting lightning, because locally it is often so ephemeral. But while at the marina, it contiinued. So I quickly tried to think of where I could get an angle at which the lightning would reflect off the bay, and headed to the Morro Bay Natural History Museum. I took some long exposures to hopefully catch a flash of lightning and, while I expected the lightning reflections, the effects in the clouds were more than I expected. Photoshop helped with the noise. Morro Bay, CA
As I add this to a "most interesting" group, I add this note:
This photo has been at the top of my "interesting" list since it made the flickr Explore page and I have gotten responses from around the world. I assume the allure is the combination of lightning (with its attendant energy/electricity), landscape and reflection in a relatively uncluttered composition--at least that's what it is for me.
