Incredible lightning storm after sundown over mainland Mexico seen from east side of the Bay of Conception on the Sea of Cortez. Baja California Sur Mexico
So pleased I made the effort to go out & chase the storm because this image made my night. The most spectacular fork lightning I've ever seen in my life, and it was right behind the famous Blackpool Tower
I had just gotten a Sportsmobile and was off on my first adventure when I was lucky enough to encounter some bad weather and captured this nice lightning strike over the mesas.

After chasing a supercell storm over the southern and central Hungarian plains, we returned into the direction of our base.
However, new storms formed near the Hungarian-Serbian border and followed almost the same track (slightly more east, probably on an outflow boundary) as the first big storm.
Here is a photograph of the second storm with some nice lightning bolts in the evening light.....
Yesterday we had severe thunderstorms here in Chicago and I tried to capture some of it as much as I could. Obviously the storm and rain does not help, but hey nothing is for free...
This is my first go at using Lightroom which I just got a few hours ago. A picture of lightning seemed to be a very fitting subject for Lightroom somehow. :-) I played with a few adjustments to colour (though not very much), adjusted the tilt of the image as the horizon was previously crooked and cropped it.
This is a picture I took from my balcony with my iPad a few years ago. The lightning put on quite a show that evening for a good hour and a half before the rain started. Dry lightning storms (actually a misnomer since rain is produced but turns to vapour quickly) happen occasionally where I live since it is very hot and dry in the summer. The area is classed as semi-arid.
I'm on the East Coast this week! I took this picture last night. The original was pretty crappy; underexposed and the focus wasn't all that great. But I processed the hell out of it and turned a crappy picture into a mediocre picture! This picture looks good from far away but pretty crappy at full zoom. In the used car business, they call that a "50-footer". Looks good from 50 feet away, but that's about it!
