Lightning above the Midlands taken from South Wales

Whilst on holiday in Gale, Portugal; there was a little storm. My first time capturing a storm and it was an experience to say the least!

A blurred image due to very strong winds with bolts of lightning in the distance.

Thank you very much for your visit and comments my friends..cheers

Lightning, Nottuln, Germany

.

During a good storm, I'd set up the tripod, set the camera for a 10 second exposure time and keep clicking. The 'spray and pray' technique combined with a good storm would often result in a few good shots.

Here, the shot was desaturated, and then a black to white gradient map used, with a purple color stop. Not the typical monochrome color of sepia or cyan, but...

Really great to watch this lightning storm with my granddaughter from the second floor at home

Lightning bolts from a small storm at Scunthorpe UK last night

I'm not sure how it got its name, but the fire started in the Gore Range in Routt National Forest on Sunday, June 20th, and has expanded to 1025 acres. This pic taken 8:13 p.m. June 22, 2021 from one of our pastures as the setting sun magnifies the plumes of smoke clouds.

I estimate the fire to be 20 air miles north of us. It is feeding on pines and lodgepole beetle kill. Fortunately, wind is blowing all that smoke east. Fires in the arid American west are a natural and predictable event in summer. This one likely caused by lightning, but they are still investigating. Another, larger fire nearly 4000 acres, the Sylvan Fire, is burning south of us maybe 50 air miles away. It has been confirmed it was started by lightning. Today might be rough as there are red flag warnings (wind), but the rest of the week promises cool and rainy weather.

10th July 2015 from the west cliff, luckily this week I was not directly under the rain, lightning and floods. not many strikes got 4 of them.

A great lightning storm passed over the town last night

Chances are like lightning; they never hit the same spot twice. So when a chance comes your way grab it, cuz it may never come again.

New Brighton Lighthouse is a decommissioned lighthouse situated at the confluence of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay on an outcrop off #newbrighton known locally as #perch-rock , the #thunder and #lightning was spectacular last night, Sony A7iii 16-35mm f35-ISO100 davenewbyphotos.com.uk

Took this capture from the deck where I was out of the rain under a canopy. The light in the yard was from lightning that was in the sky overhead out of the frame, but happened during the 30 seconds of exposure and provided the nice foreground lighting. I guess that could be called Lightning Lighting :)

Happy Bench Monday

Managed a few more strikes outside once the rain slowed down a little

Developing high based storms over Belgium moved north towards The Netherlands.

These were fast moving storms so I had to act quickly to intercept them. I was just in time close to the historic town of Zaltbommel near the river Waal to capture these bolts.

A very wispy cloud moving quickly across the sky and over a grain elevator, gives the momentary impression of lightning.

I was photographing a thunderstorm to the northwest, when new storms arrived in the south to southeast. An angry sky came in with some vivid lightning bolts.

I like shooting storms at dusk......

Thunderstorm and heavy downpour in the island of Singapore

Lightning Strike

The weather in July is often marked by heavy and small thunderstorms. On the first day of August 2017 a strong storm was forcasted over the Hof region. The Wartturm in the east of Hof was a good viewpoint to watch the lightning strikes. At the local festival the storm caused probably a short interruption. Shortly after I took this picture I buckled into my car - the thunderstorm was directly above me.

Usain Bolt

An unbelievable lightning storm last night passed us by to the North. This is an 8-second exposure. To watch it in real time was just amazing. Constant flickering with bolts coming out of the clouds with a speed that seemed like a time-lapse.

Here is the video I took with my phone.
