Vito's Life Lessons:
If you want to be loved, be loveable.
-----
Vito has select friends-but those he loves he loves with his all. He wiggles and smiles, and throws his little self at them. He is one of the few dogs I have met that actually likes to hug. When you squish him he presses even more to you. I adore him.
Important Life Lesson:
Don't jump onto the toilet when you aren't sure the lid is down. If someone is currently peeing into the toilet, the lid is NOT down.
Running life lessons: on days when you don't feel like doing your run, put in ten minutes, so say the running gurus. If after ten minutes you still want to quit, go home.*
*Never once have I decided to quit after the ten minutes. We can do hard things, my friends, and sometimes all it takes is a ten minute start.

INDIA' Where else?
One year after the success of our first video in Shanghai ( vimeo.com/33024534 ) Pierre Lelievre and myself "Anthony Finocchiaro" decided to find adventure around in a much more exotic place.. INDIA !
We landed in Delhi but with the clear intention to visit the country as much as we could.
For ten days in India, we had the intention to find a way of transport to escape from the big city and mix with the local population, the real one !!! We planned to take a great life lesson and also share our love of the inline skating, roll on virgin spots and learn skating to the young generation.
Two days in Delhi was almost enough for us to skate most of the city ... Cosmopolitan population shortly shared the info that two crazy Frenchies were inline skating through the streets jumping all the obstacles and catch the tuktuks. It was fun to hear people saying to use "Nice shoes " speaking about our skates, but every time was a challenge for us to explain what is " inline " and what we do here, as we had many questions from curious people.
After some research we decided to rent a motorcycle and go to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, it was a 200 km road trip between the two cities, which is not really not much in Europe ... But here 200km bike that can quickly turn into a 6/7 hours drive, which was ideal for us to make a few more stops through different cities. So we took the time to stop in beautiful spots where we shared moments with Elephants , snake charmers or cricket players.
We arrived late in Agra but we we still headed straight to the Taj Mahal where our first meeting has been with a tribe of stealing monkeys who tried to ride our bike and wear our helmets… After fighting this crazy monkeys we fully enjoyed a beautiful sunset under the walls of Taj in the company of military guards who were amused to see two tourists a bit like no other, and laughed to hear us saying that we came straight from Delhi with our destroyed motorcycle ... haha.
We spent a total of two days in this beautiful city, made incredible encounters and especially memorable sessions but also left a few pieces of our famous motorcycle after a spectacular crash. We managed to land safely but the bike lost its first and second gear ... so you can imagine what it may look like to start from Zero with the third gear…
Back to Delhi we lost our third gear so it was really hard to continue to tour with this lethal weapon in the middle of the jungle road, so we decided to give back this broken shit and continue to end this journey by skitching cars, tuktuk or even camels, but always making extraordinary meetings with inlines on our feet!
For this trip we used both the SEBA FR1 Orange & Blue customized way FR-A by adding the soulplate, and the new SEBA Street Invaders wheels which really passed the test on this very difficult grounds.
For amateur or Pro skater, this skate skate was more than ideal for this safari trip. THANKS SEBA Skates and thanks everyone who made this trip so special, I hope to feed back and show these pictures to as much people as possible!
Also thank you Pierre for being always on top, this is just the beginning of our adventure ..
THANK YOU

I saw a bumper sticker today that read "Life is the School, Love is the Lesson" For some reason it reminded me of a series of photos I took recently... this being one of them.

Avenue Q is a truly unique “adult” show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere, a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good and life lessons are learned. A puppet-filled comedy (similar to a beloved children's show) it follows a group of young New Yorkers seeking their purpose in big-city life. (U.S. Army Photo by Kevin S. Abel)

Hello world,
Haven’t posted on here in quite a while. Which is quite absurd because I’ve been doing a lot more with my camera now more than I have in the past 2 years. The only thing constant in my life right now is change and I’m trying my best to deal with it.
This is Fluffy. He used to be fostered by a family that found him in a very poor condition. He had heartworms, was badly injured and on the verge of death. They nursed him back to life, and he’s been living with me since November of last year. He’s such a cheerful little guy and loves tummy rubs and sleeping his day away! His life today is so different from what it used to be.
I hope all of you are having an awesome weekend! (:
Also, I just made a new facebook page yesterday and I would love some support!
This is not a very compelling image, but today was a life lesson day for my daughter, and I couldn't be a prouder father. Sometimes metaphors are subtle. Other times, they are very literal and smack you right upside the head.
Here she is getting ready for her lesson. Ladybug is a tough pony to ride, very free spirited. Stella was thrown off her horse for the 1st time today, and she has been riding for over a year. She was not hurt. She was scared and startled, and cried for a couple of minutes. I gave her a big hug, we dusted her off, and she got back up on the horse and rode. She rode the first few minutes with tears running down her face, but she rode. She was scared it would happen again, but she rode. Towards the end, she was smiling again as she rode.
She fell off her horse, dusted herself off, and got right back on. And I was beaming
Life lesson learned peanut, and you did great!

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.
~Angela Schwindt
We had a fairly warm day last Saturday so I took the kids to a park and they enjoyed it
thoroughly. The water was pretty cold, but you know kids.
Happy Cliche Saturday!
This is his first Kiwi Crate project, a Polar Bear catching game! He made his own polar bear paws and ears and covered a small ball with velcro so it sticks to the paws when he catches it! He did most of it by himself and he's so proud.

[In which Little Paddington teaches the potato masher a cold, cruel, harsh life lesson.]
My beautiful Facebook Paddington Lovers. I don’t know what potato mashers in Europe are like. Are they as hateful as the ones here in Central Texas? Paddington will say, “I’m going to open my favourite kitchen drawer.” and the potato masher says, “The heck you will.” Paddington isn’t quite sure if it’s a metric or imperial potato masher. All Paddington knows is that the potato masher does its very best to jam the drawer closed to keep him from fully opening it to get things out.
“I’m done with the potato masher and it’s attitude!” exclaimed Paddington. “Can you please fetch me a hammer You Lordship?”
I fetched Paddington a hammer from the tool closet. I won’t go into graphic details about what Paddington did to the potato masher with the hammer because there are children in this group. Let’s just say that potato masher won’t be jamming Paddington’s drawer where he keeps the good stuff like the kitchen spider, the tongs, and the cherry pitter. Also, the lemon or lime juicer because if Paddington is going to drink his weight in gin, he likes a sizable splash of citrus in the glass.
“The Late Queen Majesty’s mother taught me how to drink gin.” says Paddington. “She liked a zest of lemon in her drink(s). There’s a zester in here somewhere.”

Vito's Life Lessons
Week 43
Create your own Happiness
---------------
Along the lines of "when life give you lemons.." This is the snow version. When mother nature gives you a few feet of snow WAY before she should have ya gotta make the best of it.
The dogs of course love the snow. They have been in and out, in and out, in and out for a few days now. Vito had a fantastic time with the frisbee in the snow. He'd try running with it and end up with a face full of snow becuase it would scoop the snow as he went. I couldn't help but laugh at him...
I love how dogs can turn anything into a positive. Even snow in October. Happy Winter to us!
Life lesson chapter 2: #34
After doing our first transect from Gambel(St. Lawrence) to the Anadeer Gulf (Russia) we turned back again to American waters.... much to the relief of the crew... and brought all but the whaling captain home again.
This time we went into the center of town where boardwalks had been set up to deal with the permafrost and make it easier to move around.

Vito's Life Lessons Wk 20
The dogs and I spent the weekend at a friends Sheep Farm. They had a blast. Brit (my border collie) got to work sheep a lot, and the short ones got to run around, roll in stuff, and critter. All in all a pretty great weekend!
I got a lot of great photos this weekend- but I kept coming back to this one. Togo (the guardian dog) is just one of two dogs that live at the farm and he was enthralled with my little dogs. Especially Vito. It was interesting to watch him follow them around, and even mimic them at times. He actually tried to play with them! He is a pretty mellow dog so it was neat to see him get a little wild. lol. This photo was taken this morning on a walk through the field. Vito was looking for gophers, and Togo was checking each hole that Vito already had.
In looking for quotes and ideas to go along with the photo I came across this one by John Adams. I instantly connected to it- my dogs are my inspiration. Truly. They make me want to be a better dog owner, a better trainer, and a better handler.
And being Corgis (or part corgi) the short ones really do think they are in charge. ;)
There are many adventures awaiting you. :]
My aunt Cathy and cousin Courtney recently opened up a new shop in Chicago called What Knots. They sell artisan creations and vintage finds. (and offer a photograph heaven for people like me...). I highly recommend checking it out! Also, for all artists/crafters, you can talk to them about selling your creations there!

Bailey Dazy asks "Any.... exercises I can practice to help me get in touch with my inner feline?"
Catherine Saiman: Yes.. listen.. you know what you're supposed to be..
Bailey Dazy nods.
Catherine Saiman: If you put a cat outside and leave it.. it won't die.. it will adapt.. it will learn.. it will return to it's instincts.. because they are always there
Bailey Dazy nods again.
Catherine Saiman: Let me make this a little more simple.. Forgoing the nature of it.. the whys.. Look at how you react to a situation.. What controls your nature, how a human would handle the situation.. or how your body wants to handle it..
Bailey Dazy looks confused "Depends on the situation?"
Bailey Dazy thinks about it "I let diplomacy take over... normally... I thought that was right way to handle things."
Catherine Saiman: Have you ever felt the muscles in your body tense at a situation, only because you felt something..
Bailey Dazy nods "Often."
Catherine Saiman: Felt the little pull that made you want to spring at someone.. because they smell like prey.. How about the sensation that makes your hips sway.. the overwhelming urge to feel the teeth of your lover agaisnt the back of your neck?
Bailey Dazy wrinkles her nose "Not that they smelled of prey... more of... the want to neutralize a threat.... " She hmms in a positive way after the latter statement.
Catherine Saiman: How about the maddning urge sets every sense on it's very edge, that pushes your ability to see.. to hear.. to perceive so strongly you don't need any help..
Catherine Saiman: How about the ache in your body to be some place high.. the confident feeling that lets you walk the edge, and the almost thoughtless grace makes the edge so trivial, you never fear the fall..
Bailey Dazy nods again, relating, listening.
Catherine Saiman: All these whispers are muted screams.. it is what your nature demands.. and what you willingly repress..
Catherine Saiman: Diplomacy is control.. it is just another form of ripping someone's throat out..
Catherine Saiman: it is making them see your way and conceed to it, all while feeling they got exactly what they wanted..
Bailey Dazy narrows her eyes. She hated others feeling like they were right, when they weren't. "Yes... yes."
Catherine Saiman: As I told Mal one day when he was batting at a ball of yarn.. it is the most simple things that hone our very existance.. that little game, teaches hunting skills.. the pounce.. the grab.. the bite..
Catherine Saiman: these things.. so trivial to human eyes and minds.. but those are the tools of our ancestors..
Bailey Dazy nods and makes a mental note to get ahold of a new ball of yarn. "I'll get my paws on one... and work with Mal as well. He's young, he's plyable."
Catherine Saiman: Dogs communicate through noise.. cats through actions.. cats have only a few noises.. the trill of a mother to her kitten.. a soothing sense of security..
Catherine Saiman: The growl of anger.. and their meow.. yet this is not every answer a cat will give you..
Catherine Saiman: theres a swat, letting you know claws could have been used, but weren't...
Bailey Dazy nods, that was much like what she did to Bianca earlier.
Catherine Saiman: There's the quick bite, the grab, the pounce, each can be silent if so desired..
Catherine Saiman: or they can bear the growl of deep anger.. the warning to any around that they may suffer the same if so daring
Catherine Saiman: But in all this... there is the purr.. a singular vocalization that can mean so many things.. pleasure, contentment, or a self soothing sound when very afraid..
Bailey Dazy is familiar with that concept.
Catherine Saiman: Our natures are full of passion.. it is these passions that we surrender to every day.. in war.. or not..
Catherine Saiman: I would hope that these simple words allow you to feel the pride I feel... the understanding of what our kind should be.. and I hope it begins your own discovery.. so one day you may find one to teach as well
Bailey Dazy takes in each word Cat says, a simple head nod is all she can muster at the moment. "I need some time to... prowl I think."
Catherine Saiman: Give it time.. I'll be here with my library.. the books need reading, and sometimes it is nice to be needed..
Bailey Dazy smiles a little bit. She'd lean forward, rubbing her cheek against Cat's shoulder should she let her.
Catherine Saiman: Be well kitten.. and be safe
Bailey Dazy nods and head for the door.
Catherine Saiman ruffles the nape feathers of the raven with a slight smirk, "Don't give me that look Mister... I'll have you know you're a hair's breadth from being a stew" She'd smile and lightly tug at the raven's beak as it'd squawk, "She's got a mate anyways.. one that actually pays attention to her.. now shush with you tonight, there'll be no more mockery"

Life lesson chapter 2: #32
The crabber was not designed for ice, its hull was too thin so the next few hours while we carried the transect was very nerve wracking. And the scientists weren't QUITE sure if our papers were in order with Russia. The crew was incredibly tense and one of them flew the American flag upside down... a sign of distress.

Mom, I really love this pink halter dress....but I don't understand this $19.90 USD and Add to Cart stuff...
You have to pay for the dress with money, Ivy. Do you have any money?
No. How do I get some?
You have to get a job and work and that way you earn money.
Oh......
Can't we just do it the usual way - like when you just magically appear with the dress from the mailbox??
