Santa brought Tabby a doll bed for Molly for Christmas. it came with a beautiful coverlet, but a plain mattress & pillow.I thought making a pillowcase and mattress cover (I'd say sheet, but we made it be a pillowcase basically so it wouldn't come off) would be a perfect first project using the sewing machine. I got so excited I had to take pictures. Did she run out of patience? yes. did I do some of the seams? yes. But we're both proud of how well she did do for a first time and very pleased with the end result. Can you believe I had that lovely fabric which went so well with the bed and the bedding it came with?

I had the privilege of being able to stand on the sidelines and take pictures of the Lee County HS girl's soccer team (on which my daughter is the assistant coach). Although the quality of these photos is not the greatest (night game, "low shutter speed"), they can serve the purpose to help educate minor details to help the girls play a more fulfilling match.

Communication again. Either a "man on!" or "through ball!" should have been given to help her. As it was, the defender closed and the open player on the ball carrier's left did not get the ball.

As always, thanks for your views, comments and faves!

The girls are learning about batteries. In this activity, we've set up a circuit with a light bulb, battery, and switch. When the paper clip touches both of the metal brads on the paper, the light will go on. When the paper clip doesn't touch one of the brads, the light bulb goes off.

My daughter said she had a surprise for me this evening. Over the last few days she learned to ride her bicycle without the training wheels.

While I watched I thought of the Tom Petty song,

"I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings

Comin down is the hardest thing"

(Not completely appropriate, but it's what came to mind :-)
