China, Harbin, City Impressions,…boats frozen in & dogs on the almost 1mtr thick icecap lasting until late spring along the embankment of the Song Hua River.

The "Chow Chows" in their homeland. This dog breed is originally from northern China, his fur protects perfect from the cold & snow during the long winter month. The fur is particularly thick in the neck area, therefore the dogs, besides a few other double names, are also called "ShĪziquăn" - Lion dog or "xiónggŏu" - bear dog.

Heilongjiang Province, the most northeast part of China, when viewed on a map has the shape of a swan. Its capital city is Harbin, which is located south of Heilongjiang.

Not only for its special position, but also as the centre of Heilongjiang's political, economic, educational & cultural life, Harbin is described as the pearl beneath the swan's neck. Lying on the east of the Songnen Plain, what is more, Harbin plays a vital role in communications between South & North Asia as well the regions of Europe & the Pacific Ocean.

Harbin was the birthplace of Jin, 1115-1234 & Qing, 1644-1911, Dynasties, the latter of which had a very considerable influence on modern Chinese history.

At the end of the 19th century, Russia built the terminus of the Middle East Railway here. Later, more than 160,000 foreigners from 33 countries migrated to Harbin, promoting the development of a capitalist economy in the city. The economy & culture of Harbin achieved unprecedented prosperity at that time & the city gradually grew into a famous international commercial port. Assimilating external culture, Harbin created its unique & exotic cityscape. The majestic St. Sofia Orthodox Church & Zhongyang Dajie each built in a European style have the effect of bringing you into an 'eastern Moscow'. Even though you are sure to be attracted by various exotic buildings, the Dragon Tower which embodies the wisdom of the Chinese people is a must on your journey.

Besides these rich cultural heritages, Harbin is favoured with beautiful natural scenery. Based on meandering Song Hua River & subject to severe low temperatures in winter, down to -30°C, when I took this Pictures the Temperature varied between -20°C & -26°C but dry air, Harbin boasts a unique ice & snow culture. So, Harbin is also called the "Ice City".

The impressive "Ice & Snow Festival" is the greatest & unusual one in the world, therefor Harbin is also called the "Ice City".

As well the large Siberian Tiger & white tigers research centre, with about 500 tigers & a few other species, does an important work to prevent this species from extinction. The Research centre can be visited, tours in small a bus are available, passing through wide natural, separated, sections, however the focus point is to save the tigers.

On 8 September 2017, I decided on the spur of the moment, to drive south to the Saskatoon Farm. I wasn't sure what I would be doing that weekend and wanted to make sure I went there to buy a few of their vegetables and fruit. I knew that a weekend would be a much busier time. I also wanted to photograph a few of their beautiful Artichoke flowers before they were all past their prime.

All the flowers were very popular with the bees, which was so good to see.

As usual, I wandered round the grounds with my camera, catching one of the cats, one of the dogs, and a few of the chickens, as well as flowers. I never return home with an empty memory card when I visit this place.

Unfortunately, it was a smoky day (what's new?) with the air quality rating an unpleasant High Risk level. In fact, I almost turned back before I was half way there.

This interesting place is maybe a 25-minute drive SE from the southern edge of Calgary. You can collect your own Saskatoon berries and other fruit in season, look around their outside green houses, and their inside gift shop full of unusual things, and buy special baking, jams, teas and so on. They also have a restaurant that offers great food.

After lasting twenty years in their as delivered paint, the Milwaukee Road started to repaint some of their GP9s into the billboard scheme in the late 1970s. The 331, the highest numbered and newest of the fleet, brightens an otherwise dismal day working the yard at Green Bay.

Trying to remind myself today:

- Mindlessly scrolling social media will not

bring true, lasting comfort.

- Physically harming myself will not bring

true, lasting comfort.

- I can acknowledge what I'm feeling and

not just try to ignore or suppress it and let

it slowly decrease it won't last forever at

that same intensity.

- It's ok to be honest.

- It's ok to ask for help.

- I can rest in God's love and care for

me. He is with me in each moment.

- What do I need right now?

- It is not completely selfish to do these

things (if they are done in a healthy

manner)—in order to truly be here for and

serve my family, friends or anyone I encounter I also have to take care of my own wellness.

I took this photo nearly two years ago (9/6/20) as I was doing my AMonthOnFilm image for that day. The prompt for my film photo was “looking up” [ www.flickr.com/photos/amandacreamerphotography/5051301140... ] and for that photo I laid in the grass at the edge of our yard where it meets the corn field, looking up at the sky, trying to cope as I was struggling intensely and working on taking my film photo. Here are some of the words I wrote that day with my “looking up” image: “…I listened to the corn blowing in the breeze, heard the loud insects buzzing all around me, felt the breeze blowing across my skin and the pressure of the solid ground under me, the cushion of the grass on my back and bugs biting at my ankles. I tried to absorb it all, take it all in among the anxiety raging in my body and mind. I tried to enjoy the moment instead of worrying I’d totally missed the shot by missing focus and not having the convenience of checking the image on the back of my camera—film doesn’t work that way. Even if I totally messed up this shot it can still remind me of this beautiful moment in God’s creation.” As I stayed in that spot, still working to cope, to try to find a tiny sliver of calmness I took some other photos with my digital camera. This is one of those images. I was holding my phone in my hand with the night sky as a backdrop. While outside I think my “trying to remind myself” phone alarm went off. I had an alarm set twice a day at set times and when the alarm sounded I would look at this image I created with one of my photos and words I had written to remind myself of. This was a habit for a while. I don’t do this anymore with an alarm and I can see evidence that these principles as well as some others not listed here are becoming more ingrained in my life and within myself. Things that were so foreign and felt so awkward are now starting to slowly become a little more natural. A small sign of some growth. It’s amazing to see how far I’ve come when there’s still SO far to go. I am thankful.

A recurring theme over the last 25 years since I first properly witnessed the Aurora in Bridge of Weir. The very first time has not been surpassed with an Aurora lasting over two hours and a constantly changing sky between greens and reds. Never to be forgotten.

Love is like a campfire: It may be sparked quickly, and at first the kindling throws out a lot of heat, but it burns out quickly. For long lasting, steady warmth with delightful bursts of intense heat from time to time, you must carefully tend the fire.

My lasting memory from this trip to the Knottingley area is as soon as one train cleared another would turn up, the train plan must have been intense that week which allowed us to drive from bridge to bridge to pick the loco's off. This shot taken at the Womersley foot bridge shows 56094 "Eggborough Power Station" in full coal livery including the cooling tower cab casting heading towards it's namesake Eggbrough power station on a glorious 3rd August 1995.

This 56 is one of the lucky survivors and still in use with Colas over 40 years after being released into traffic from BREL Doncaster on 9th August 1981.

Pink light from a long lasting sunset, the Orion Constellation, and moonlight in the hoodoos of the Bisti Wilderness of New Mexico. From our trip there in early February.

This was a first for me, photographing faint pink color in the clouds so long after sunset that the stars were visible. This shot was taken about 50 minutes after sunset. It was a really amazing experience seeing the stars, faint pink clouds, and the moonlit foreground all at once. The moon was pretty much centered high above the frame, the bright white thin clouds at the top of the frame are lit by the moon.

Nikon Z 7 with FTZ lens adapter and NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8 lens @ 14mm and f/2.8. I did a star stack of 20 exposures at ISO 800 for 8 seconds each (stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker for low noise) but I didn’t like how the clouds smoothed out and lost their texture with the accumulated 8x20 = 160 second virtual shutter speed after stacking. So I used a single shot from the stack for the sky with the clouds showing more texture, and used the low noise foreground from that stack plus the foreground from another shot at ISO 200 for 60 seconds for depth of field.

Yesterday I went down to see the Beech Avenue at Kingston Lacy in Dorset whilst I hoped the trees would have the best autumn colours. When I arrived the carpark on the side of the road was full and it turned out that (I presume) a local art group had come to paint and draw the avenue. So they sat dotted around whilst I walked around taking photos. I even met another photographer there too!

The trees of the Beech avenue are gradually being felled as they near the end of their lives. The National Trust is holding an exhibition next year to celebrate the avenue and is inviting artists to send in their images. You might be able to see some younger Beech trees in the background that have been planted to take over when these are gone.

I'll post more photos later but for now I'm really pleased with this shot. I don't know who the artist is but I hope she doesn't mind being featured :)

Well I finally got some much needed camera time weekend past, just about remembered what to do as my mind is only set for changing nappies, feeding or cleaning up sick, but it was great to get out again and also in the company of my best bud Andy (check out Andy's shot from the same location its pretty damn amazing!) which has been a long time coming.

Thanks to everyone for still viewing my work, and I will catch up with everyones streams as and when I get that bit of time to myself.

Natural Garden at the Portland Japanese Garden: The Natural Garden is the most immersive of all gardens. Hidden benches and waiting areas provide spaces to rest and reflect while being surrounded by nature in its idealized form.

The Garden sits nestled in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon overlooking the city and providing a tranquil, urban oasis for locals and travelers alike. Designed in 1963, it encompasses 12 acres with eight separate garden styles, and includes an authentic Japanese Tea House, meandering streams, intimate walkways, and a spectacular view of Mt. Hood. This is a place to discard worldly thoughts and concerns and see oneself as a small but integral part of the universe.

Born out of a hope that the experience of peace can contribute to a long lasting peace. Born out of a belief in the power of cultural exchange. Born out of a belief in the excellence of craft, evidence in the Garden itself and the activities that come from it. Born out of a realization that all of these things are made more real and possible if we honor our connection to nature.

One of my favorite things of the NS Buffalo Line are the type of bridges that they built up on the Northern End. Specifically Farrandsville Pictured here and the two others at Sinnemahoning and Cameron. A big spring snow fell April 7 in Yosemite, lasting till midnight, then it started clearing at dawn. When I saw the weather report calling for "heavy snow" (rare this time of year), I shot up there and arrived at Tunnel View before sunrise. About 10 others were there for this incredible scene. This was taken in twilight at 6:10 a.m. Later, I'll show how it looked with first light and sunrise.

By noon, much of the snow in the valley was gone. After touring and photographing for a few hours, I headed home. Total round trip time: 24 hours.
