I feel like I captured an emotion with this one. I suspect they traveled here for a cruise. hope they have a long and wonderful life together.. I am curious if other like to capture strangers showing their love. Its very romantic and really reminds me of the blessed life my wife and I live.
As NASA's Cassini spacecraft spends its last few weeks in orbit around Saturn before making a controlled impact with the planet in what NASA dubbed Cassini's "Grand Finale," some of those who helped launch the mission 20 years ago are thrilled with the success of the massive probe they helped dispatch to one of the solar system's most intriguing worlds.

This species flies in June, rarely emerging before the last week of May or lasting into July. This timing coincides with the blooming of butterflyweed (Asclepias tuberosa), its favored nectar source. This photo just came out on the cover of Tennessee Conservationist (May/June 2020)
This Image was taken just in front of my hotel at Port Isaac, spend a wonderful few days chilling in Cornwall. more to folllow soon :-]

My final sunset of 2009 was a memorable one. I've already posted an image from this night once the sky turned more red and with a different rock from Death Valley's Racetrack Playa.
Here is another image from earlier in the evening when the sky turned a nice shade of gold while the sky was still blue, a perfect time to use the Singh-Ray Gold-N-Blue polarizer to accentuate these colors.
Most shots you see from the Racetrack use the rock as the focal point, but here, I thought the track and the impression the rock made (for who knows how long it sat there) were more interesting. I also liked how the rock had changed course, as if to direct me to where the sun was setting.
My frist trip to Death Valley was a memorable one and it certainly left a lasting impression.

International criminal court / The Hague / The Netherlands
This is one of the new buildings of the International Criminal Court in The Hague (see link below). It is situated at the edge of the dunes and after finishing the buildings the dune nature around the buildings was restored. It was Friday evening, so almost nobody was working there anymore. The size of the building, the plants in and around the building, the bird on the roof and the sunset sky created for me a surreal mood.
From their website www.icc-cpi.int/about:
"Justice is a key prerequisite for lasting peace. International justice can contribute to long‐term peace, stability and equitable development in post‐conflict societies. These elements are foundational for building a future free of violence."

The lasting legacy of the Cherokee people on Sawnee Mountain includes three worn indentions in a large granite slab near the summit, now known as the Indian Seats.
This location was used as a lookout site used by both Creek and Cherokee Indians, and artifacts from earlier indigenous tribes have been evidenced from as early as 500 B.C.

Pearl's hair has grown so much this summer. I watered her today. I do it rarely and that is why her pearls have lasted.
"Of all the Beauties, it is that which attracts the most lasting Admiration, gives the greatest Charm to every thing we say or do, and renders us amiable in every Station, and thro' every Stage of Life."

The unseasonable cold is lasting a long time. When it doesn't get above freezing during the day, it seems like the warmth gets leeched out of everything. The heaters run constantly. Everything becomes dryer and dryer. You have to use lotions to keep moisture in your skin. I really have to bundle up to do my Zwift ride in the garage. The birds are doing better than I am. 😊

Lasting Impressions: Handprints on the Pier
In October 2012, the city opened an opportunity for children across Burlington to leave their hand prints on the pier. The city received 444 entries, drawing one name from each of the six wards and a seventh name from the city at large. The city then took the hand print impressions of the seven children as part of leaving their legacy with the Brant Street Pier. The children returned to help unveil the plaque that contains the lasting impressions of their handprints on the opening ceremony held last June 2013.
PW 2201 was the longest lasting GE B23-7 on Providence & Worcester' s roster, and outlasted the rest of the B23-7's by over 10 years. This is my last shot of the 2201, and it was completely covered in oil "head to toe", and was a really good sign that it's demise wasn't far off. It has since been retired.

In search of gold dust
Madagascar - These Madagascans are searching for gold dust in the bowels of gold-bearing lands. During the tourist season, many foreigners see them wading in the muddy waters, but they think they are cultivators.
But they are in a hurry to get by car to Antoetra, the hamlet which is the starting point of a trek lasting several days to visit the villages and mountain populations of Zafimaniry.
So if you do not know that these families are digging in search of gold, we do not pay attention to them. They blend into this tormented setting.

Swedish Falu red barn
Barn nearby to Engelsberg Ironworks, in Ängelsberg, a village in Fagersta Municipality in Västmanland, Sweden.
The deep red colored paint called "Falu red" or sometimes "Falun red" originated from a copper mine in the city of Falun located in Dalarna, Sweden. The paint was made of water, rye flour, linseed oil and tailings from the copper mine which has iron oxides, copper compounds and zinc. Often used on Swedish barns and cottages, the paint was found to be a natural wood preservative that was long-lasting like iron. When the paint would wear out and flake, the loose flakes could easily be brushed off and repainted to look like new again.
The paint was cheap and poorer farmers would even use it to paint their houses during the 19 century. Falu red is still widely used in the Swedish countryside.

In the distance, GBRf Class 60 No. 60047 leaves Hartlepool hauling empty biomass hoppers from Drax to Tyne Dock on 1 March 2025. Engineering works on the East Coast Mainline meant services were diverted along the Durham Coast which bears the scars of its industrial past.
My lasting memory from this trip to the Knottingley area is as soon as one train cleared another would turn up, the train plan must have been intense that week which allowed us to drive from bridge to bridge to pick the loco's off. This shot taken at the Womersley foot bridge shows 56094 "Eggborough Power Station" in full coal livery including the cooling tower cab casting heading towards it's namesake Eggbrough power station on a glorious 3rd August 1995.
This 56 is one of the lucky survivors and still in use with Colas over 40 years after being released into traffic from BREL Doncaster on 9th August 1981.
