UW-Madison’s Language Institute hosted World Languages Day on November 7, at Union South. This exciting, college-for-a-day experience introduces more than 600 Wisconsin high school students and their teachers to many of the world languages and cultural topics offered at UW-Madison. The event aims to inspire students to pursue a second or third language regardless of their educational and career goals.

I’ve been learning English at Jiahua for a long time. Actually, I found that it’s a good thing for me. Although, the tuition is much higher than I spent in my college, I felt that I actually able to use what I’ve learned to improve myself. I remembered before taking English exams, never passing them. I don't know why, I picked up the impulse to start or the idea of learning English. Maybe, it was my search on the internet, where I found Jiahua language school. After I talked to the customer service on the internet, then I went to Jiahua School. My first impression of it is still very good, because it is in in the city center, convenient transportation， and a beautiful environment. These are some of the reasons I choose to come to Jiahua. When I first started at Jiahua my English was not very good, so I started to take CB2 classes. My first class was pronunciation with Joe. I have never spoken with foreigners before. When I faced Joe, I don't know what I should say, in fact, I couldn’t say anything and I was very nervous. After several months of learning I have upgraded to CC4 level. My English is better than before, and every day I see foreigners and chat is normal. I’m still working to fully express my thinking. In Jiahua my favorite class is English Corner with Philip. His English Corners are fun and we often learn to gossip, and it often becomes the main topic. In fact, I also gossip about other students. But what I like most about his lessons is that he would often call me on the stage, this is good for improving my speaking. At the same time I also know a lot of students in Jiahua. Everyone is ambitious, self-motivated, are all very good, especially in Jiahua. I knew a few crazy girls, I won’t say their name, but they also quite good, we sometimes go out to spend time with each other and have dinner, it was great. Now, I only have a few months of courses left. The time I have left makes me feel a lot of pressure, because I still feel like my English could be better, so i hope this year i will get better, and all of us can come and hard study together. Governor Abercrombie, local business and nonprofit representatives, and the academic leadership of UH Manoa, including Dean Robert Bley-Vroman of the College of Languages, Linguistics and Literatures (LLL), gathered to launch a major statewide initiative for the promotion of world languages and cultures for workforce development and community growth.
When he was two and a half, I recorded him saying fifty-odd words and phrases from his still fairly limited vocabulary.
Today, three years later, by way of amusement, he ran through them again, on my prompting, but this time in reverse alphabetical order. It made a kind of curious poem.

As part of the Korean Language Classes at the KCC, students took part in a 'Making Kimbap' Class.
Learning Korean through Korean culture, this lesson looked at cuisine.
The students were given handouts in Korean describing how to make bibimbap and before the demonstration they learned vocabulary, phrases and expressions to do with cooking, for example to boil and blanch etc...
Col. Phillip J. Deppert, the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center commandant, gave opening remarks at the Language Capital of the World Cultural Festival in Monterey May 14. Deppert’s remarks emphasized the city’s rich international culture. DLIFLC partners with the local community to promote events that further cultural understanding and appreciation, and strengthen the institute’s bond with the city. I think I am behind on my data entry. I am going through old receipts and more to see if there is anything I want to add to my various Excel workbooks: Journal, CDs, DVDs, Books, etc. This one is from March 31, 2008. This Borders was in Tempe, AZ on the NEC of Mill Ave and 7TH ST. I didn't learn very much French during my many years of self-study. Part of that is due to the other languages I was studying at the same time: Spanish, Italian, German and Russian. Today, I am only studying Spanish. (As of 12/15/2020.)
