Die Nebenbahn von Eggmühl nach Lanquaid wurde schon vor vielen Jahren von der DB aufgegeben, doch kümmert sich der Verein Laabertalbahn seit der Jahrtausendwende um die Strecke. Mittlerweile hat der Verein zwei kleine Diesellokomotiven und den charakteristischen Auwärter-Beiwagen mit welchen die Sonderfahrten zu besonderen Anlässen durchgeführt werden. Am 01.06.2008 fand eine privat organisierte Sonderfahrt statt und im Ortsbereich Schierling konnte die V1 samt Beiwagen auf der schönen Bogenbrücke aufgenommen werden. Ein in der Region noch allgegenwärtiger alter Traktor fuhr passend vorbei.
The branch line from Eggmühl to Lanquaid was abandoned by the German Railways (DB) many years ago, but the Laabertalbahn Association has been managing the line since the turn of the millennium. The association now owns two small diesel locomotives and the characteristic Auwärter trailer, which are used for special trips on special occasions. On June 1, 2008, a privately organized special trip took place, and the V1 and its trailer were photographed on the beautiful arched bridge in the Schierling area. An old tractor, still ubiquitous in the region, appropriately drove by.

A new spot for lineside photography. Here we see 90001 lead the 13:11 empty charter stock from London Euston to Crewe HS (5Z46), which was captured passing through Mill Meece on the Down Slow of the WCML on the afternoon of the 28/9/20.
For info, 40145 was dead on the rear of this consist after working 1Z46 from Wembley to Euston earlier in the day.
LSL's Chairman's round Britain tour passes the former station at Greenhead behind 37401 & 37409, en route to Alnmouth from Upperby.
Having taken over the 1408 Carmarthen to Bristol East Depot at Newport relieving 20107 of her Thunderbird duties the pair are seen bathed in evening sunshine on the final approach to Temple Meads.
These two were allocated to work the tour forward to Devon and Cornwall on Sunday Monday and Tuesday but due to some rescheduling they were called upon early.

It has been some thirty seven years since the 'Peaks' last worked a Liverpool - Newcastle service but this morning Inter City tours had recently overhauled LSL 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' as traction for their 'Pennine Peak tour'.

LSL 47593 is on the rear with D6817 up front departing Settle on the morning Skipton to Appleby service. Turned out to be a very hot day in the hill country.

LSL's 43047 leads 1Z32 Carlisle - Cardiff Central across Ha'penny Billy's bridge over the River Derwent on its way down the coast with "The Settle & Carlisle Coastal Statesman". 43059 trails.
Had a section of pole left but it was deceptively gusty so didn't risk it.
LSL Midland Pullman HST 43055 illuminated by the summer solstice evening light works south approaching Golborne Junction with the returning ‘Settle to Carlisle & Coastal Pullman'.

LSL`s 47593 "Galloway Princess" powers its way passed Dringhouses with 1Z61 the 16.04 Scarborough to Ayr statesman charter 27/05/2023.
47712 was left at Scarborough after having issues on the 1Z60.
LSL's Midland Pullman short set finds a welcome break in the heavy cloud this evening as it speeds south through Golborne Dale with the return leg of 'The West Highland Pullman'.

Locomotive Services 37521 (D6817) and 37667 (D6851) power past Redhouse working 'The Orcadian' 1Z37 private charter/combined route learner from Corbridge to Elgin.
The set headed up the Far North Line over the weekend before heading back down to Corbridge and eventually back to base at Crewe the next week.
LSL Class 37667 and 37688 give it full bore past Saint Peters Rd Level Crossing, Watlington after dropping off LSL staff and chairman at Watlington Station on a private Railtour Charter before heading off towards lynn Empty Stock to then run around to head off towards Ely and then shortly to Norwich to turn the stock and then eventually head onto the MNR to stable for the rest off the day and then go out the next morning. 5Z22 Watlington to Dereham MNR via Kings Lynn , ely , Norwich T.C , Trowse and Dereham. - 15/4/2022.

This was day one of Statesman Rail's 3-day LORD OF THE ISLES STATESMAN tour to Kyle of Lochalsh.
LSL D1924 (47810) comes off the Britannia Bridge (1868) spanning the river Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal with the Statesman empty stock later to form one of the two Footex's to Wembley for the Liverpool v Chelsea final.

LSL's 90002 "Wolf of Badenoch" pauses at Runcorn with 1Z23 15.38 Cardiff - Liverpool Lime St "Welsh Marshes Express" and the 90 was in immaculate condition.
The 90 took over at Crewe from 46100 "Royal Scot"

LSL 47805 'Crewe Diesel Depot' making a racket powering out of Dundee working 1Z74 Edinburgh - Gleneagles with 47810 on the rear on June 15th, 2022.
Royal Scot class no. 46100 'Royal Scot' passes Copmanthorpe on 20th June 2022 during a move from York NRM to Crewe LSL, following a charter working from Edinburgh the previous day.
The LSL 'Ice Breaker trains' ran again today (Saturday) but not without incident. Both northbound and southbound trains are booked to meet at Wigan NW for a crew swap (07.41 - 07.48) but the southbound left Carlisle 49L and then came to a halt at Grayrigg. I believe 90001 + 86101 had technical issues and later a deer was struck around the Low Gill area.
The Northbound working had no such issues and upon arrival was returned from Carlisle to Grayrigg where all four locos worked to Preston. 90001 then returned to Carlisle and 90002 + 87002 & 86101 worked back to Crewe and in very poor light I managed to record them on the canted curve at Golborne Dale 266L.

37409 tows 57303, D8107 (20107), D8096 (20096) & 5 former DB owned mk11s along Broadholme up loop on 29/11/23. The 37 was having a test run after an engine change & reactivation at HNRC at Worksop, the train operating as 5Z63 1249 Worksop-Crewe LSL.
