LSL class 47712 seen powering over the Bourn Brook with a service to Kidderminster from Highley with 56051 on the rear. 21/05/23
Camouflaged by vast swaves of woodland in the valley at Two Waters Foot, the impressive Largin Viaduct is Grade II* listed and carries the Cornish mainline over it, at this stage single line to reduce load bearings on the vulnerable structure. Opportunities to photograph interesting workings crossing it are few and far between and a pair of Duffs on a sunny Sunday morning seemed a good chance to nail the location.
LSL provided motive power in the form of Largo Logo 47593 "Galloway Princess" and BR Blue 47614 (47853) which are seen crossing the viaduct with the 1Z28 09.37 Penzance-York "Cornish Explorer Statesman", returning a weekend excursion northwards. The light caved in no more than 10 minutes afterwards, as can be seen by the clouds bubbling up in the background - little to say we were extremely relieved!

LSL 47712 on the rear of the charter from Crewe with the push pull set on arrival at Carlisle. i was in the DBSO 9707 at the front which i suppose was quite novel to be pushed up Shap summit! £50 for this Railtour was good value in this day and age plus routed back over the S&C and with an early start from Dumfries no need for B&B!

LSL D6817 runs LD Through Dumfries working from Carlisle to Stranraer route learning special. In the background you can see what is now the staff and short stay car park. This was once the bay platforms for trains departing/Arriving along the former port road to Castle Douglas and Stranraer.
LSL’s Cornish Coastal Pullman led by 43046 'Geoff Drury 1930-1999’ passes Powderham forming 1Z62 16.00 Penzance to Eastleigh on 29th May 2021.
Fortunately this was running a few minutes late, which allowed just enough time for a bank of cloud to clear.
This was the Midland Pullman’s first visit to the south west and looked great in its striking Smurf livery!

LSL 37688 Great Rocks comes through Dumfries working LD from Carlisle Wapping Sidings to Stranraer. This is a route learning special presumably in connection with the Railtour to Stranraer in July. En Route someone at Network Rail must have realised those Horns located on the roof would be out of gauge through Pinmore Tunnel so it terminated at MauchlineJunction Perhaps next time use one of their class 47s or even better that class 121 pressed steal bubble car.!

LSL ‘spark’ 87002 'Royal Sovereign' back on its old WCML stomping ground brings back the memories of its hey-day on Anglo-Scottish expresses as it speeds north this morning with Inter-City Tours 'The Capitols Scot'.
The predicted hoar frost turned out be as good as I have ever seen and a location was chosen that hopefully would maximise it.

Pristine LSL Class 40 D213 'Andania' passes Daresbury this morning with the Llandudno - Preston leg of 'The Lakelander' tour giving way to A2 60532 'Blue Peter' for the run over Shap to Carlisle.
* The tour should have taken in the Cumbrian Coast route but a preceding tour hauled by Tangmere started many linside fires and 'The Lakelander' was halted at Parton before being hauled back to Carlisle by D213. The tour is being returned via Shap to Llandudno hauled by D213 'Andania' as I type this.

A visit to Wilmslow to see 86101"Sir William A Stanier FRS" T&T with 90001"Royal Scot" running in with the allegedly final 1Z41 17.42 Euston - Manchester Piccadilly. Friday 30 September 2022.
The weather was not great today, but fortunately enough the sun appeared for a brief moment enabling a sunny shot to be taken of this special working.
Here we see 90001 making her debut outing with LSL after being transferred from East Anglia. The loco was captured working the 12:32 private charter from London Euston to Mossend Yard (1Z40).
LSL HST arrives at Carlisle wth a charter from London St Pancras.Looks good in the Nanking blue and no need for yellow front ends due to modified headlights.
I arrived late at Winwick to be greeted with the news LSL Inter City liveried 90002 'Wolf of Badenoch' on its crew training run from Preston would be DVT leading. Then news that it had dramatically slowed or indeed stopped in the Euxton area. Eventually it made it to Wigan 50L and was put into platform 1 which is bi-directionally signalled so we had high hopes that 90002 would be put on the front, which is how it turned out.
Rekindling memories if how it was back in the late 80's & 90's through here, 90002 & DVT 81239 resplendent in InterCity Swallow livery at full line-speed pass the small gallery @ 14.08 68L.
