This was a reject shot for last Macro Monday's theme of 'bread'. I keep looking at it in Lightroom as I rather like it so I thought I would upload it and share. :-) The loaf itself by the way wasn't so nice and remained uneaten apart from two slices that were toasted. Bit of a shame. :-(
Awkward does not even begin to describe what I felt when standing next to two guys with matching foot gear comparing the finer points of loafer stitching.
Took a trip to Sugar Loaf Mountain in Monmouthshire and this single tree on the mountain took my eye.

Er bestaan verschillende zoete varianten van maanzaadbrood, vooral in het midden en oosten van Europa, in het Nederlands wel aangeduid als Pools maanzaadbrood of Hongaars maanzaadbrood.

The #HappyCaturday theme this week was catloafs. BB took advantage of a freshly laundered couch cover to stretch out like a loaf of Italian or French bread.
Three friends have come round for a chat this evening as they do most Thursdays. We usually have coffee and malt loaf.
From my visit to the Sugar Loaf in Wales. At a bit of a loose end tonight and playing with the 'best of the rest'. It's growing on me now it's had a bit of a crop and an edit.
Quite enjoyed this loaf.
It is by John Kirkwood .. a 'retired cook from the north east of England' as he calls himself.
Easy, no nonsense loaf ... but, next time I won't bother dusting the top with flour ...it looks cute, but it's messy and there is flour ('fairy') dust all over the counter every time I cut a slice. And, I won't bother baking it hotter at the end either .. ..it just encourages those light cracks that I don't like the look of and that everybody else thinks are great and are supposedly a sign of a good loaf. I prefer smooth and firm.
Anyway... just sayin'...... a great every day loaf of bread that makes wonderful toast.
I give his and my own 'regular' bread loaves two thumbs up.
Sounds strange, but has great flavour.
Our Mom used to make it on occasion and have no clue where she got the recipe... but, must have been from an older cookbook.
I have her old recipe that she typed out on her little old portable Remington type writer all those years ago.
Been down and out with Covid...first time we've had it....and, yes, I've had the shots and the boosters too..... but, this was still NOT fun...and, .still have no sense of smell or taste...so have lost a few pounds. Don't feel like eating ... had no energy until yesterday.... been sick since August 10 .... I think I'm finally on the road to recovery.

No Dia de Reis algo raro - um arcoíris duplo durante o pôr-do-sol. Ao lado, o Pão-de-Açúcar.
Atualização 24.1.6: Zé Lobato acabou de subir uma foto do arco-iris completo.
On Epiphany something rare in the sky - a rainbow at nightfall. Close by, Sugar Loaf mountain.
Update, 24.1.6: Zé Lobato has just posted a photo of the complete rainbow.
I got a set of M42 primes a while back and I finally got around to playing with this one. It is soft wide open (sharpened here in photoshop) and the minimum focus is rather large (like >3 feet) so it is kind of a junk lens. But it manages to produce decent bokeh and like any lens, the sharpness improves when stopped down.

I took this photo last weekend when Fynn was enjoying the sunny weather in the garden, although he often seems to enjoy rain even more. For the moment it seems that his Chinese herb pills help him and his health stabilizes. His appetite is better and his flu symptoms are receding slightly. Let's hope that the positive development continues.
