The Lilac Breasted Roller is a very colorful bird and possibly the most colorful in the Kruger Park. The main color of this bird is a combination of different colors. Its breast is light blue, its neck salmon pink, its back brown, its head green and its face red and white. Its tail feathers and wing undersides are light blue, which is very striking.
Although it's been a mixed bag of weather so far this Spring the Lilac has been exceptionally good this year, very fragrant and much visited by nature. Here a Hoverfly relaxes briefly in the sun possibly enjoying the moment :-)

Winterthur Gardens and Museum has several varieties of this scented beauty. It was a joy to be around them; wish I could photograph smells, too!
