Something bright and colourful for the shortest day of the year. Taken on a backstreet in Cambridge (when I had gotten lost...).

I found this flower overhanging into an overgrown back lane. I manged to pick a one, and later photographed this shot outside in my garden.

Lilacs have started to bloom.

It was wet today, and I walked around the yard between showers. Took some shots of these lilacs, with the raindrops.

Still enjoying the heady scent of the lilac outside my kitchen door. Especially welcome after a bit of a tough day :)

Rochester Lilac Festival 2015

I am always complaining that I never see any lilacs. I just seem to miss them during my travels. Imagine my surprise when I see a lilac bush in full bloom in Alaska! Can you tell I was ecstatic!

The Ewing Park Lilac Arboretum in Des Moines, Iowa has hundreds of lilac bushes of various types in white, pink and purple blooms.
