Baba Yaga, the witch from Slavic mythology, famously travels the forest in a hut supported on giant chicken legs. Somehow the idea struck me that we could build a space version, if the AT-ST series of Star Wars walkers aren't already.

Maybe the Blacktron faction would have been thematically more appropriate for this, but current element availability and mostly evening work time meant that black wasn't the easiest colour to use. Besides, this way I got to use those fun giant slope elements from the UCS Galaxy Explorer to make a wonderfully pointed roofline.

The legs aren't the most innovative, and this is right at the edge of what balljoints will support weight-wise, but they seemed like the most correct choice for chicken legs.

This is a revamp I'm quite pleased with, so hopefully you like it! Help support Classic Space by clicking the link below! ideas.lego.com/projects/f1b1dfc3-4ef2-4992-aab7-aad16bceed0d

Here it is guys! My latest Lego creation! I missed being away for so long! So I present to you, The Ferrum Dawn!

The Ferrum Dawn, meaning the Iron Dawn, was a ship used by a mercenary group that focused on taking down the hidden, and exiled war criminals, after the third Great Galactic Conflict that overturned a third of the known galaxy in it's wake. The ship, originally a civilian vessel, was retrofitted for carrying heavy armaments and cargo to assist in the diverse missions the group went on. Though low on weapons, it's heavy plating could take a punch!

The name was born after the team of mercenaries defeated a regional lord on the planet Kid'dan. Once liberated, the natives, who were being used as slaves, looked at the sunrise, and the first thing they saw was the silhouette of the ship, landed atop a mountain ridge, and one of the team members heard the name 'Ferrum Dawn' from the amazed crowd.

As a MOC, this was very enjoyable to make considering the different kinds of techniques and greebling that I used. It took a long time to get the shape just right. It's swooshable, if you can get a good hold at the underside, and measures about 2 feet in length!

Hope you guys liked it! Let me know in the comments! Have a great day everyone!

and don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel! It's kind of slow but I'm really planning on working on it and turn it into something interesting!

Mobile satellite links were extremely useful for relaying the findings of the Federation's various surface discovery vehicles straight to space stations and orbiting space craft. However, when dust and electrical storms made such communication impossible, the Heavy Communications Rover could send and receive messages seismically through a planet's interior. A network of four rovers would be enough to cover the entire surface of most planets, ensuring transfer of information from the planet surface to space without interruption. In the days of Blacktron raids, this tactic allowed the Federation to react speedily to attack.

I had this old dark gray radar dish sitting on the shelf for years and decided I had to make something with it. This was the result. It's not obviously visible on the main edit, but the stacked dishes behind the main cab are meant to be a device to create seismic pulses, and also provide a pivot point between the can and the trailer. Also pleased that I used three trans yellow windscreens I’d never used before - particularly fun to discover that the inverted windscreen can accept two SNOT studs. I also used three different lattice parts in old light gray to tie the build together.

The LL-962 “Arrow" Long Range Tactical Starfighter is the newest addition to the Federation’s defensive arsenal and is hopped to be the future backbone of the Nova Team Fleet. As a long range tactical star fighter she is designed to be viable in just about any theater of combat throughout the galaxy with her FTL (Faster Than Light) drive. The Arrow sports twin powerful IT-420 fusion drive thrusters and a wide range of RCS thrusters giving her excellent maneuverability both in space and atmospheric flight. And she's equipped with quad Z-12 “Lancer” blaster canons and four missile launchers making her a formidable combat opponent.

:::As some of you know I’m more on the photography side of the LEGO world, but sometimes I dabble in my own builds and this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time; build a starfighter in my own take of the Neo-Classic Space style. However I usually lack the parts for such a build, I decided to design it in LDD and then used that to figure out the parts I’d need to BrickLink to build it. The final is slightly different from the original LDD build, but overall I’m really happy with it and excited to show it all to you now. Please let me know what you guys think! I’ll be posting more images of her in the coming days.

One of my better efforts at building an enclosing cockpit, I think. Not specifically an NCS build, for all it's got a yellow NCS spaceman as the pilot. Just your average two-pronged-spear-wielding battle mech

Inspired by the Exo Suit designed by Peter Reid - this is a slightly smaller, lighter suit. Features fully poseable arms, hands and legs. Comms antenna can fold down so the suit can be stored in a smaller space.

The original has its charm with its white/blue color-scheme, but I think I like this set even better with the classical 918-924-928 look.

Your thoughts, guys ? :-)

Blacktron operatives have entered Arcturus Outpost’s science lab where the ancient alien artifact rests. Using a device of strange design, they have hooked it up to the artifact and are now syphoning the strange, powerful energy from it. Having done this many times before the Blacktron crew will be swift in collecting their prize. Also, it appears that the engineer working the device has be altered somehow. Perhaps the radiation from the energy has done this to him?

Here is another custom Spaceship design. I think the light aqua and orange work well together and am proud of the way i was able to incorporate that windscreen piece.

You love the design of the last 75979 set Hedwig, but you only have Classic space on your shelves ? I have the solution for you :)

I decided my NCS spider tank would look much better with some kind od scenery, so I built some. This elevated platform is some sort of repair/servicing station I think.

Since it's a legged vehicle it shouldn't have any trouble traversing the edge protection, so we can be both OSHA-compliant and practical.

No matter where you tread in the universe, some problems are everywhere. It's a certain sign of life. The Mobile Manipulator is there to take care!

For all your shipbreaking and ship hauling needs, look no further than the Junkyard Angel!

I needed a break from all the cyberpunk builds I've been working on, so I took a couple days to build this chunky guy.

With four hard points the TDW can be configured for a variety of situations and incidents.

There was some concern from the Council about the military nature of this vehicle but High Command pushed it through arguing that many of its weapons systems are non lethal at the same time as being configurable for more intense engagement should the need arise.

Tasked with upholding the peace and the ideals of the Federation perhaps the High Command knows something currently hidden from the rest of us.

My LEGO model of NASA's Viking 1 Mars lander from 1976. It was the first fully successful Mars lander in history.

Also known as the Lunar Dumper, set 6847 was one of the first crop of sets to feature astronaut minifigures in suit colours other than red and white, but I have to say I always found the yellow suit colour looked really bizarre with the yellow standard migifig skintone.

Regardless, 6847 was a cool set, one of the more functional and realistic near-future-toned of the various later CS sets, and seemed worthy of an update.

This is what happens when you stay too long on the Moon.

ps: would anybody know where these legs are from?

Rosanna II is taking shape after a weekend of building. I fear her top and bottom are going to be a bit boxy, but we'll see what we can do. I have very few dark grey and black tiles left at this point, so I might have to get creative.

I've tried to retain the same weathered look on the forward section of the side pods all around.

Sadly, they won't be getting an interior, but hopefully the rest of the ship will.

Droneuary, part 4.

The Plasma Armed Combat Patrol Support (PhACoPS) droid is a relatively large but low-slung multilegged Blacktron combat robot patterned after the trilobite from ancient Earth prehistory.

Covered in heavy buckycarbon-polymer ablative armour and armed with a pair of independently-targeting heavy plasma accelerator cannons as a primary weapon and twin high-power electrical dischargers as a close-in weapon, the PhACoPS is relatively compact for its combat power.

It is often used as a fire support system by Blacktron combat patrols and also serves as an armoured hub for power-regeneration service for the entire platoon, allowing relatively easy in-combat replenishment of equipment power systems.

A variation on the set I used to dream about as a kid. I spent many hours staring at it in catalogs or admiring the beautiful graphics on the boxes at Pewex stores :D

I've began this one 4 months ago, loose interest at 80 % of the build and finished the last 20 % yesterday... I kinda like the result though, but maybe it would had been better if it was a bit longer, I don't know...

My very rushed submission for Febrovery. I've never done a build for the collaboration before, and was excited to give it a try when this chassis design came to me last night.

I'll admit, it's not my best work, and I had hoped to do a background as well. But this is definitely better than nothing with only one day left in February.

FebRovery 2022, installment 20.

The VX2267 Cryomander is a large, eight-wheeled long-range surface explorer in use by the Interstellar Cryotic Exoplanet and Polar Landscapes Exploration Teams (ICEPLANET) for exploring the surface of cryogenic-temperature worlds and ultra-cold environments such as the famed "ice planet" Krysto, home base of the famed Team 2002.

Named after the salamanders that its low-slung, forward-cab design is vaguely reminiscent of, the Cryomander features large, high-powered communications arrays, substantial fuel and environmental supplies and a pair of rear-mounted manipulators.

D is for... dark orange?

This spaceship is based on the alphabet starfighter project that my son and I began last year.

Some of these ships are based on past Lego themes, others are designed around a play feature, for letter "D" I wanted to use the Lego color dark orange. The complement color I like best for dark orange is medium azure. Using these two colors as staring points, I gathered what limited elements I had. The design of the ship was largely based on what cool elements I had in those colors. Because there weren’t any real play features, I included some homing missiles that Elliot could use to "pew" the enemies.

Backstory:

One cold weekend afternoon, I was looking for something to do with my four year old in the house. We went to our Lego room, "What do you want to build?", "A spaceship," Star Wars obsessive Elliot answered, "an E-Wing!" I knew that the Lego fan site From Bricks to Bothans held a letter based starfighter contest years before, but I was willing to give it our own try.

During the build I developed our own set of self imposed RULES:

1. The ship has to be in the shape of the letter

2. It must be strong enough for a four year old to play with it without breaking

3. The primary color and cockpit location are chosen by Elliot

4. Any piece Elliot finds (that matches the color scheme) MUST be incorporated into the build

5. What Elliot says, goes. So if he wants a play feature or design element, I had find a way to make it happen

As the project progressed the builds became more and more complex and the rules became more flexible. We finished the letters of Elliot's first and middle names and now we are working our way through the remaining letters.

Bonsol Colony, a space dock/base.

This is my first SHIP and by far my largest MOC, covering 2x5 XL baseplates (23040 studs). It took about 10 months to build.

Ebirah

A Neo-Edo Scavenger Class built to scavenge from the Great Mars NASA Tragedy of 3555 it first set out flight on 3558 at the beginning of the Great Solar War. This spaceship became the dread of the solar system with its Kiryu class shredders capable of tearing apart the best armored spacecraft exposing its enemies to the vacuum of space. 5 crew operate this ship and it is powered by fast Desghidorah Drive

Length: 223 Lego studs

This was my first ever SHIPtember and a fun one at that!

Total build and post edit time: 12 days

"Designed by Nadiri Dockyards during the final days of the Galactic Empire, the Starhawk-Class Battleship was mainly used by the New Republic to pursue the remnants of the Empire. With a length standing slightly over 1800 m, it was built out of decommissioned Imperial Star Destroyers, and held a tractor beam strong enough to take down an Executor-class Star Destroyer."

This LEGO model was originally designed as a SHIPtember 2019, but unfortunately it wasn't finished until 3 1/2 months after the start. It's final length is 89 cm, so roughly 111 studs.

I hope you enjoyed this MOC, it certainly a lot of fun and a very big challenge from a LEGO design point of view!
