A road leads all the way to the top of Snæfellsjökull, the volcano made famous by "Journey to the Center of the Earth," but the mountain is snowcapped most of the year. In August 2012, the summit became ice-free for the first time in recorded history. Here in late June, we couldn't make it all the way to the top of the volcano, and thick fog kept us from seeing much of anything. With me was Paulina Tamulewicz, who I met on the Inside the Volcano trip and again in Snæfellsnes.

The old Forklift axle lugs have now been cut off, allowing the barrel to be lowered some 5 in. down into the frame to sit on new mounts, thus allowing the main chain to be shortened. A new electrical cabinet to house the Main Coils above the existing cabinet has almost been finished, test fitting after the Cables were shortened to fit better. The new cabinet is in the open position, this will allow easy access if needed and with only the drivechain, two battery leads and control wiring to disconnect and allow the whole Barrel to be removed as one unit for better servicing.

Photo: Pope Francis leads the meeting with U.S. bishops from Ohio and Michigan on Dec. 10, CNS photo-Vatican Media.

Every seven or eight years, the bishops of each diocese in the United States travel to Rome to meet with the pope and the various offices of the Roman Curia to provide an account of the state of their dioceses. The ad limina visit for Bishop Walkowiak and other Region VI bishops of Michigan and Ohio is Dec. 9-13, 2019. These were the first ad limina visits for Pope Francis as well as Bishop Walkowiak’s first ad limina pilgrimage. The previous visit in 2012 was made by Bishop Walter Hurley, who also traveled to Rome in December.

Another essential part of the pilgrimage is the celebration of Masses at the Rome basilicas of St. Peter, St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran and St. Mary Major.

The loco is in the base blue colour of GNER, with the white stripe of National Express East Coast and then the branding of East Coast, a subsidiary of Directly Operated Railways (formed by the DfT) that held the franchise from November 2009 to the Virgin takeover in 2015.

They are working a special train to Dungog 250 kms north of Sydney NSW on 13 February 2010 to launch the restored NSW loco 4204.

The three GM locomotives were from 3 different railways. 4204 ( leading) is one of the first six NSW diesel electric passenger diesel locomotives built in 1955-1956. There were earlier shunting and mixed traffic diesel locomotives but these were the first GM locomotives.

NSWGR 4204 has just been restored to operation by the preservation group Lachlan Valley Railway and it leads the train painted in its NSWGR livery.

The second locomotive is the oldest operating main line diesel electric locomotive in Australia GM 10 a 1500 HP A1A-A1A GM in 1service in June 1952 for Commonwealth Railways which operated a 1100 mile route between South Australia and Western Australia much of this running through desert and across the infamous Nullarbor Plain which had very poor water supplies for steam locomotives.

The third locomotive is the youngest of the very similar trio: Victorian Railways S class 317 which entered service in 1961. The two trailing locomotives are owned by Southern Shorthaul Railroad and are used in " hook and pull" commercial services.

Somewhere just outside, there's someone or something that is waiting for me to find ..

If I didn't go round, should I never know that I gotta direct my head straight.

If I didn't bounce continuously until feeling exhausted, should I never know that it'd be better to walk with a swing.

If I didn't shoot, should I never be able to call my feelings back.

If I didn't accept the invitation, should I never have a memory.

Just a little happiness.

And I'm just dreaming to ride to the beach, with my chemise guy.

The Sound of Thunder is BEARS club (British European American Racing) motorcycles premier event in New Zealand. Held at Mike Pero Motorsport Park (Ruapuna Racetrack) near Christchurch since the early 80's it is still attracting good entries. This year the event was fortunate to run both days after a change in Covid levels after the first day. These photos are from the Saturday which was well run, stayed on programme but still felt laid back with no serious incidents. Please enjoy the photos.

A trapdoor leads into the basement, where mistress Tara awaits Kerrick already. She sits, almost naked, in a ritual circle. "Do you have the brain?"

"No, the others are paying good attention to it, but I have a plan."

The two make up some convoluted plan regarding a killed refugee girl, and that the brain should already be placed in her grave. Honestly, I didn't pay full attention here (was busy taking pictures ;-) ), but one thing is sure: Kerrick was the one of us, who spent the most time with the refugees, so if the story was about them, he's the one most likely to know something about it.

Royal Rowbarge Gloriana leads the 2015 Tudor Pull along the Thames from Hampton Court Palace to the Tower of London on Saturday May 16. Seen here at Kew and Chiswick. See also my Tudor Pull 2014 and 2013 albums.

Thames Traditional Rowing Association Info: www.traditionalrowing.com

The Tudor Pull is a ceremonial event for Thames Watermen's Cutters which is organised each year by the Thames Traditional Rowing Association (TTRA).The cutters escort the Thames Royal Shallop 'Jubilant' rowed by members of the Company of Watermen and Lightermen, from Hampton Court Palace to the Tower of London to deliver a 'Stela' to the Governor of the Tower for safekeeping.

The 'Stela' is a piece of medieval water pipe made from a hollowed tree trunk which stands on a base of timber from the old Richmond Lock and which bears the coat of arms of the Waterman's Company.

The 'Stela' is handed over to the custody of her Majesty's Bargemasters at King Henry's Royal Palace at Hampton Court to be carried by river to the Tower of London accompanied by His Gracious Majesty King Henry VIII and his Queen in the vanguard of the Royal Procession on board the Royal Shallop 'Jubilant'.

The cutters are rigged with full ceremonial canopies and flags and rowed with four oars by fully-liveried crews. In keeping with the traditions of the Watermen's Cutters, passengers are carried.
