MNCR 217 leads a afternoon commuter train along the Hudson. While most people think of Penn Central as having black diesels, that wasn't the case in the NYC commuter zone. As part of a 1970 rehabilitation program by the then new MTA; this catching blue and yellow paint scheme was applied to PC's FL9 fleet. The paint scheme carried over to Conrail and MNCR 201 wears that scheme.

Seems as this is the place I have shot many afternoon limestone trains in years past as the color is always good between Munger and Grand Lake, and especially here at North Coons. The cowls are cool, but setting up for this shot made me think of their maroon predecessors I captured at North Coons on Provia. Those maroon SD40-3 and SD38-2 trios didn't need the help of a stinkin' air car that's for sure!
