The kitchen flooring (engineered hardwood) is being glued down to the leveled subfloor. This includes some pounding with a rubber mallet to assure the glue makes good contact. We can hear the pounding throughout the house.
Today the kitchens started getting installed. The guys measured for the marble counter top today, and ordered it this afternoon. It should be here early next week. The marble sink got made to the wrong dimensions and they had to send it back. Apart from that, the kitchen looks great. The natural wood goes really well with the color of the beams and the kitchen has a very light and airy feel to it.

We don't actually use the breakfast nook/pass-through for eating as thats where we store our bikes down below on the other side. You can see that we have an awkward space next to the fridge that currently holds my cookbooks and the microwave. It's a pretty dark corner - maybe a light on top of the microwave? Is that even safe/ok?
Pictures of the painting I'm doing in the kitchen. The old colors were there when I moved in (especially the hideous green cabinets) and the room always looked grungy, even when it was spic and span. So I chose some bright and cheery colors for the room. It's not the remodeling that I'd really like to do, but it will make the room more fun to hang out and cook in.
