This is the Kitchen God. Kitchen God is put in every family's kitchen and on New Year they burn incense to him and put sugar or honey on his mouth so he will make "sweet" reports to the Jade Emperor. He is the placement of the imperial power in the home.

It has been a lot harder to remove the remnants of the old tiles and muck etc than the other wall, so we are using a metal paint scraper to avoid too many holes.
Walking through Dengfeng at night, I saw this kitchen. Hardly anyone else was on the street, and it was oddly creepy. Ran back to the hotel shortly after this was taken.
This area was probably the most fullfilling. The kitchen was a mess, wood paneling everywhere (painted white). The cabinets used to be in the garage at another housr. The little cabinet came from my Big Bear City house. The new owners wanted everything in this room.
Pictures of the painting I'm doing in the kitchen. The old colors were there when I moved in (especially the hideous green cabinets) and the room always looked grungy, even when it was spic and span. So I chose some bright and cheery colors for the room. It's not the remodeling that I'd really like to do, but it will make the room more fun to hang out and cook in.
