That wall totally needs some art. :) There used to be a set of cabinets there, took those down, and then we finally hung the wainscoating, and its nice to have some prime wall space!
Yes, I'm pulling up the original hardwood floors. Some people are giving me a hard time about this. I love old, original floors, too, and it was a tough decision, but it's one I don't regret making - 1) the floors in the dining room are in worse condition than this - unsalvagable, really - so the good floorboards from here were saved to replace ones in the dining room later on. 2) because I knocked down a wall, I'd have to try and match these floorboards where that wall was - which would be pretty much impossible not only because of the stain color, but because of the size of the boards themselves.
Yes, of course I'm really far behind uploading my regular photos, but friends and family members have been wanting to see the remodel progress, so bear with me while I post some "boring" photos!
Armco advertised their new enameled kitchen products in the April 20, 1918 Country Gentleman. The kitchen appears not to have electricity. The stove would have burned wood or coal and that appears to be an ice box in the next room. Very few farm homes had electricity at the time.

The University Union is the social heart of the college campus and needed some upgrades to reflect a more contemporary look. Three distinct areas within the Union were included in this renovation: Good Eats, Epicure Restaurant, and Round Table Pizza.
The Round Table Pizza renovation included improved work and customer service flow, refresh of colors, finishes and lighting to provide a lighter, vibrant, energetic “sports bar” gathering social space for the students.
The Epicure Restaurant renovation challenge was to provide an intimate upscale space for faculty to dine and use as a meeting space, yet inviting and open for students to feel welcome. The entry was expanded and remodeled to provide a physically and visually open entry into the dining space and the finishes and new lighting throughout are sophisticated and welcoming. Outside, the partially enclosed patio was opened up by creating openings in the existing wall, removing the trellis and trimming large shade trees providing a more enhanced open outdoor dining experience. Translucent wall divider and glass wall art is by 3form, and folding divider wall is by NanaWall. The custom hostess desk is made of bamboo from Plyboo.
Good Eats is a new food service provider that required a full deli style open kitchen to cook and prepare carved meats, fresh vegetables and sides for sandwiches, salads and breakfast and lunch plates.

Soon this kitchen sink will be changing, as I finalize plans for the kitchen remodel tomorrow. Project to begin soon...
The kitchen was cleaned from the oil that was all over the furniture, the hydraylics were also restored as well as the hinges.
This kitchen cabinetry was created with the Bridgeport door style in Oak finished in Peppercorn with Nickel glaze.

These were in the house when we moved in. The dishwasher wasn't even attached to the water. It was just shoved in the space to make it seem it was installed. Fortunately we found someone local who came very quickly and fixed this for us. We were ever so grateful! Both appliances work well.
Originally took this to send to Jon who's on a tour of Europe (today: Rotterdam, Brussels and Gent) but people seem interested so it can be my PAD. Kitchen taking shape. What you can't see is the space to the right which will eventually be the dining/family room and which is totally full of stuff. Flooring, appliances, junk, wires, stuff.
This cabinet was kind of a miscellaneous cabinet, with medicines, coffee mugs, and lots of junk. This is the first pass of decluttering. More stuff will go on the second pass.
Hanging kitchen cabinets before they were moved to empty wall to right of picture. Moving this cabinet opened up kitchen so when cooking I can see friends sitting at kitchen table plus allows for use of penninsula counter top.
