Well my kitchen is crazy right now. Half the roof is down (replacing plumbing in the upstairs bathroom. A whole new ceiling is going up and new lights. Some of the walls have been primed out, the doors will be primed out this weekend. I found a vintage 1950's cupboard with counter to replace an existing one and the sink cupboards will just be plain white ones very minimal but high gloss.) The sink will be a double farmers sink with high chrome taps and that counter will be wood. The temporary pantry I am going to paint red and install some chrome vintage handles. (this is a temporary solution until I can afford a full on pantry. The walls will be light turquoise and the trim plain white. The floors need to be redone, area rugs gone. The list just goes on and on. Fridge and stove are new and staying, as will the microwave but in a different location (shelf above stone) I am doing open upper shelves, with pipe detailing added around them (painted white or red) for a totally different look.

I'm not a food blogger, but every now and then I venture into that realm. Not always with excellent results.
Nonetheless, I think I have something to add:
Another view of my kitchen, the window, and exposed brick. Its a shame the window doesn't open. My loft has the original wood floors from 1913. The "stripe" of concrete dividing the wood and granite flooring is where a wall once was when this building was still offices. The building I live in was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and is located in the heart of Downtown Dallas. It was converted into loft apartments in 1999.
As far as this room, I am the designer. I have a BA in interior design/art, but never obtained my ASID Certification.
As far as the building: The Kirby Building faces Akard & Main Streets in Downtown Dallas. The architectural firm of Barnett, Hayes, & Barnett of St. Louis designed this 17 story Gothic Revival skyscraper. Lang & Witchell of Dallas were the associate architects. The facades of the Kirby were created with terra cotta. The terra cotta has many details, shapes, and images within its sculptural relief in friezes, panels, cornices, and finials. The Kirby was originally built in 1913 to supplement the Adolphus Hotel (corner of Commerce and Akard). In 1999, the Kirby Building was converted into 156 apartments by architects Corgan Associates of Dallas.

I spent the last week preparing my parents' house, my childhood home, to be sold. My two brothers and my sister and I interviewed auctioneers to dispose of all the contents, and real estate agents to sell the house. At the end of the week, we signed contracts, and it will all be gone in probably six weeks.
My mother died a year ago and my father moved to California to live with my brother Tim this past spring. So we all met for one last visit to the house on Main Street in Muncy, PA, and went through every room picking out the few things we each wanted to keep.
While I was there, I tried to take a portrait of each of us.
My long-term project, the kitchen, as it stands for right now. Please mind the awful wallpaper and border-- it really isn't ours. However, the kitchen is now FUNCTIONAL, which is the most important thing. Go us!

I finally got my hubby to put up some of the ART I have for my kitchen walls, some of you may know already that I have a kinda diner-esqe, 50's feel. I have had most of these pictures etc since xmas but have only just got him round to it yippee!
I got this metal sign in America last week you have to love target dollar buckets awesome.

this is the kitchen area. cork floor tiles that i just loved. the cabinets were made by her nephew out of hackberry, a tree that grows locally in the swamps. the countertops are hackberry and honey locust. i love the glass blocks in the wall. those provide a little extra light into the utility room on the other side.

Runnymede represents Tasmania’s golden age. This Regency marine villa was built by lawyer Robert Pitcairn and Dorothea Pitcairn c1836-1840 and extended by Tasmania’s first Anglican Bishop, Francis Russell Nixon who resided there between 1850 and 1862. Captain Charles Bayley then acquired the house and named it Runnymede after his favourite whaling ship. The Bayley and Bayly families resided in the house for over a century.

My twin daughters and I are remodeling my childhood dollhouse. Just for fun, I staged the kitchen this morning. The wallpaper is just propped against the walls -- and it's blocking the window -- and the floor isn't actually installed, which is making the cabinets sit a little wonky but it was fun to see what it's going to look like. Plus, it gave me an excuse to play with the little Re-ment stuff!
