The layout of this apartment is killer. I love the squared open space. Not my particular kind of detailing but for a rental, this is pretty damn good.

Rented a lens from RentGlass.com. Awesome shipping, quick and very reasonable and cheap prices.
Got a Nikkor 12-24 DX for the upcoming Key West trip.
Super wide.
Looking straight down on various wooden spoons. You can see the crack in the lip of the pottery mug I have the spoons in.
So cute! I just love it. The pantry is huge! Straight on through the door on the left is the service area. There's a complete two-room suite, with two full baths back there, for live-in staff.
This kitchen was completely restored using the original cabinets. Paint works well with stainless steel appliances.
Adjustable Elfa Shelving from The Container Store can be adjusted or added to for your individual needs.
Significant amounts of stuff were removed from or organized in the cabinets to get the counter this clutter free. Also note that everthing on the fridge was relocated or removed.

My most favorite thing to do on full days where I don't have to do anything, is to cook delicious meals in the slow cooker. I really like the magic of it. It all begins with chopped veggies and herbs haphazardly thrown in the crock pot, cover, turn knob to "low", nap/watch tv/read/play with cats/annoy husband/internet surf/etc for several hours until - VIOLA! A hearty warm meal that has the coziest aroma.
Nom nom nom.
Apologies for the poor lighting, the photos were taken in a rush at night.
Also my dog Party somehow managed to get in almost every photo.

I designed this kitchen myself using found objects, ebay items and free stuff! Of course, there was much of it that wasn't free, like the marble backsplash, for instance.
But see that cute little window and door in the upper right part of the photo. Those are part of my walk-in pantry. I purchased the window and the door for a total of $55! The window was from Treasure Aisles in St Louis and the door was from ReStore (for Habitat for Humanity).
We had some very nice friends who gave us the carrera marble island for free after they remodeled their own kitchen.
I took several pictures of this room to give a sense of its size and spaces. This room was a big selling point for us—having a den/play space right in the kitchen, with a nice big island/bar, will make it much easier to be together and to watch the kids when preparing meals.
We're thinking about painting it yellow.
I know one of my aunts had this house after my parents left it but that's really all I know.
This was taken before the fire obviously.
When I make Roasted Butterflied Chicken and crank the oven to 500 degrees the smoke alarm doesn't go off anymore thanks to my high powered hood.
