Inside, the kitchen remodel consisted of tearing down existing walls that were separating the area from the dining room. This was done to open up the floor plan by allowing the walls to be replaced with two columns and raised granite counter that doubles as a bar seating area.

York's 'country house and garden', this grand Georgian mansion with an impressive baroque interior exhibits over 100 18th-century portraits in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery. Built in 1716, the house has remarkable cantilevered stairs, exceptional wood carving and an unusual central corridor. There is a fully equipped Victorian Laundry, a delightful walled garden* and interesting wooden sculptures.

This picture was taken shortly after the new cabinets were installed. There is still no trim around the new window and there are wires everywhere for the under-cabinet lighting.
Prototype for the new kitchen island.
At the moment, the island is just a cardboard box I'm using for the measurements. The finished island will be made out of bass wood.
A few weeks ago, I started with a new 'project' the kitchen garden. At first it was totally in open air but since one week I'm the owner of a greenery. I still need to make doors, at both ends, so it isn't totally finished yet.
What's in it?
Melons, spinach, carrots, beans, red cabbage, white cabbage, broccoli, 3 types of lettuce, 2 types of tomatoes, cucumber, zucchini, pepers.
