We removed the half wall between the dining room and kitchen and put a brand new peninsula in its place.
Clean up and dishes are easily done with the trash / recycling and dishwasher at the sides of a large sink at the center.

Looking back at the dining end. The new skylight was a major improvement. The dining table is a Victorian pine scullery table which we bought over 40 years ago in Scotland. It expands with a crank to seat 6 when needed. The wall clock is from about 1910, the first antique clock I ever purchased and restored. The distant wall shelves hold Jackie's collection of early children's printed china.
