the keypad, O G', how could I thumbs up Nokia's keypad? after all these N series, Nokia still hasn't learned such solid keypad that would make user hurt when typing too much.

The Nanocomputer keypad/display unit unfortunately has a fault in one of the drive transistors (in an array), and it is a totally obsolete/arcane part (BGY16), not available anywhere. So I solved the problem by cutting off the two offending device pins, and soldering in a bog standard PNP transistor in its place - I chose the transistor to have a matching pinout (ECB), so it could be neatly soldered in place with no crossed wires. Note the purple insulation to prevent it shorting against the residual bits of the chip pins.

This is near the Cliff House Inn in Ventura. An island off highway 1 (I believe man-made) is attached to the mainland by a bridge. I was hoping to get on the island and take pictures but it is heavily guarded. This is an old rusting keypad entry. Now it's secured by a chain link fence and barbwire.

The reason i choice the nokia E71 is the physical keypad.
But I was surprise when i got it...
i didn't be noticed the case is made by metal before i got it..
from the couple days testing,
the integrated GPS is awesome.
the 3.5G network accessing is awesome.
the physical keypad is awesome.
the only pity is the fring is not ready to run on the E71 so far.
Another bargain bin purchase. The keys have a lovely action, the keytops could easily be rearranged into a more logical layout and the keys rewired to match MK14 requirements. The problem is there aren't enough keys. I would have to find and add another 4 similar style keys for the Go, Mem, Abort and Term command keys.
The PmodKYPD is a 16-button keypad arranged in a hexidecimal format (0-F). By digitally driving a column line to a logic low level and digitally reading each of the rows, users can determine which button is currently pressed.
