Surprise, surprise, surprise! We went to the park today to chill for a while and lo and behold look what we found! A brand spanking new kayak launch and fishing ramp! I'm not sure when it fell out of the sky but it is beautiful and sturdy! Thank you, parks department!

Last weekend I saw an armada of sea kayakers rowing alongside West Cliff Rd in Santa Cruz. They must have been rowing for quite a while because they were all quite spread out.
This week our kayak fishing adventures took us to Scenic Loch Leven in the Highland .Long drive throughout Scotland wilderness , loads of snow here and there and the occasional deer wondering on the road . A quick sleep in the motor , comfortable enough with two sleeping bag and a hot water bottle for extra heat we woke up nice and early ready for a new adventure .With temperature dropping to minus 8C during the night it was fun scrapping the window in the morning and removing the ice from inside the car . Three super hardcore kayak fisher ready to explore . We set up slowly and make sure we have plenty layers on for the day . Beautiful morning paddle in instant scenery , no wind , no waves and proper chilly . I tie on the nearest buoy and small ice sheets are flowing slowly down with the tide . This is the sea and it's frozen . Fishing is slow and with baited feathers my rod started to shake and 2 joey mackerel come to the light . Early February and the mackerels are already biting . Next fish is a nice looking Thornback ray , I turn it over revelling a little smile and unhook the spiky slab and released it back to the water . Next fish is a mackerel , right of the bottom and another one . Then a couple of dogfish , beautiful creature with super rough skin . The sun is shinning full beam .We paddle to another spot , dropping and sharing an anchor in 180 ft of water . Fishing is slow with bites here and there but the fish are hard to hook .We call it a day and paddle back to the shore , Two anglers on the side are fighting the unavoidable snag , I feel for them . All the gears are stuffed back in the car , kayak on the roof rack and heat full on we attack the winding road through out valley and glen .Finally ,and a simple question spring to my mind . Yesterday we took our kayaks out for the first time this season, and I brought along my SLR 680. The weather was perfect! We paddled and floated around for a few hours, then drove home and made margaritas and bbq'ed chicken on the grill. It was a lovely spring day!
Kayaking at Tjärnö in Bohuslän, Sweden. This was during a field-stay at Tjärnö marine biological laboratory at the Swedish west-coast, the stay was a part of a course in marine biology. I didn't have my eos 30D back then, but used a compact digital camera that i had borrowed from my dad.

That's a LONG ways to drag my kayak! But I did it. The reward was complete solitude and the adventure of a lifetime. Well, I don't know about a "lifetime" because I plan on doing it many more times. I just enjoyed the colour that was reflecting off these kayaks and the water showed a bit of colour...
At the very last cast sitting on the kayak ,after a very long and scenic day on Loch lomond,Bonnie Scotland.I landed this specimen Perch.Those fish are awesome .I was glad to be able to released it free..Kayak fishing is a total adventure ,miles of paddling and sometime a beautiful catch.Those fish are wild and deserved to be released free ..Tight line they say..Thank you Deborah for this day..

Kayak through the river to check out famous Costa Rica wildlife. Not much luck to see crocodiles, but lucky enough to shot beautiful sunset @ Tamarindo beach.
Kayaks lined up at Manzanita Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park. This was taken with an Olympus XZ-2 camera, with all the settings and focus wrong! I believe I still had the camera set for "macro" mode photos but it worked out well and I could recover the exposure from the RAW image!
