A kayaker's dream scene, I had to pinch myself. The water is constantly changing with the light which makes this place quite magical. Earlier in the day I went for a long swim, I was determined not to squeal getting in like some of the old guys I heard. People were looking at me like I was some kind of strange, cold blooded water creature after I dived in without making a sound. The ice cold water isn't easy to embrace but once in, you don't want to get out, so refreshing on a hot day.

Normally, I shoot these for all the purty colors. But, guess what. Black and white works too, sometimes.

One evening at Algonquin PP the sunset was lighting up the island like a spotlight. Then this Person in a Kayak paddled into the frame and I just had to take the shot.
I was over by the Canoe Club on the Calgary reservoir when I came across a school of students. They were learning how to paddle and literally get into their Kayaks. Alone the Kayaks sat waiting for their occupants when I was able to get a few images after walking around them to get an otherwise better composed shot.
One cool activity in Alesund, Norway, is to paddle along its complicated shoreline in a kayak. Maybe tomorrow – today is too late, this guy brings them all home…

Two or three fishing poles are trolling baits through the water behind this kayaker who is hoping to catch a big salmon or trout. 30-lb. fish can be caught here and that kayaker would have his hands full if a fish that size were caught!
I owned a 16-ft. boat for 18 years and have caught plenty of fish in this same spot. Only when Lake Michigan is calm and smooth can kayak fishing like this happen. Otherwise rough water and waves we often have here would completely swamp it :(
Once again, people are taking the long walk out to the end of the pier to the tall lighthouse there. It's a good way to get some exercise and fresh air.
I processed my image into a graphic style.
Enjoy!
This kayaker gasps for air as he emerges from an eskimo roll in the fast water on the Black River during the 2023 MACKfest festival.
Creative framing of three colorful recreational kayaks. Canoeing and kayaking are low impact activities that can improve your aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility.
Kayaking allows you to explore hidden waterways and cover greater distances. Recreational kayaks are normally 9-13 feet long. In an open-cockpit kayak you're sitting lower in the boat and your center of gravity is at the level of the water.
Sit-inside or sit-in kayak are warmer and drier to paddle in cool weather or on cold water.
A fantastic way to get out on the water. Shot from Dahab lighthouse seashore.
