This shot could be just one more lovely sunrise/sunset photo in my long series of such shots, however there is something special about it - the time - taken at 1AM ! I have already experienced those long days during summer months in Iceland, however there the sun actually sets for few hours (creating several hours long "blue hour"). The Inari lake is even more to the North (way above the arctic circle), the sun never sets there from end of May to end of July. This shot was taken during my first night of the day that never ended. Finding a good location to capture it, was not so straight forward as I was hoping, but I was lucky to find this wooden walkway that was pointing directly to the North ! It is difficult to say when the sunset stops and the sunrise starts, but I guess the midnight is the breaking point. the sky like this can last for several hours... well meaning that you have similar conditions.. Yet again luck was on my side as there was quite heavy storm and lot of rain behind me but I still managed to take photos for about an hour and then I had to be holding the umbrella above the camera again.. !!!

During my trip in Iceland I took the opportunity to visit beautiful places.
A few hours before the sunset I headed to Vestrahorn, one of Iceland's most photogenic mountain that rise on a lagoon next to the sea.
Since the wind was calmer, a great reflection was visible on the water.
I made a panoramic shot during the last sunrays, that were tinging the mountain with red shades.

Cabo Carvoeiro is located over the Atlantic Ocean, in Peniche (Leiria, Portugal). It represents a place of great value, with a wide variety of calcarian cliffs, highly eroded and field of "lapiás". It is one of the most western points of Portugal (in the Continent), north the Cabo da Roca. Here the lighthouse of Cabo Carvoeiro was built, 25 mts of height, due to the numerous ship wrecks that used to occur around this place.

Istanbul is definitely one of my favorite cities in the world and sitting on one of those great terraces with stunning views over Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque is something I always enjoye doing, especially during sunrise or sunset time.

The 25 de Abril Bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril "25th of April Bridge") is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon, capital of Portugal, to the municipality of Almada on the left (south) bank of the Tejo river. It was inaugurated on August 6, 1966 and a train platform was added in 1999. Because of its similar coloring, it is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, USA. In fact, it was built by the same company (American Bridge Company) that constructed the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and not the Golden Gate, also explaining its similarity in design. With a total length of 2,277 m, it is the 20th largest suspension bridge in the world. The upper platform carries six car lanes, the lower platform two train tracks. Until 1974, the bridge was named Salazar Bridge (Ponte Salazar).
After those very colorful photos, I thought I post one that has nearly no color. It was very foggy afternoon with some rain as well, definitely not a weather I would expect to see in mid August, however I really like the result of this shot.

Khongor Sand Dunes are the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. Also known as the ‘singing dunes’, they are up to 800 m high, 20 km wide and about 100 km long. Top of the dunes can be climbed and the views of the desert from the top are indescribable.

Isle of Skye - The Quirang is a fascinating rock formation on the Trotternish peninsula on Skye. It is approximately two miles north west of Staffin and six miles south east of Rubha Hunish. The Quiraing is a spectacular landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye. The whole of the Trotternish Ridge escarpment was formed by a great series of landslips; the Quiraing is the only part of the slip still moving, the road at its base near Flodigarry requires repairs each year.
The Trotternish Ridge lies on Skye's northernmost peninsula known as Trotternish. The northernmost summit on this ridge is known as the Quirang which has a fantastic maze of pinnacles, cliffs and flat grass tables that were formed by an ancient landslide of biblical proportions. From below these cliffs look huge, upon closer inspection you find many intricacies - scree slopes provide entrances to reveal an intricate maze of deep chasms and huge rock walls.

Venice - Venezia is a city in northern Italy known both for tourism and for industry, and is the capital of the region Veneto. It surely is one of the most visited cities in the world and therefore it has been captured from every angle.. always a challenge for any photographer.

I have so many ideas for this kind of shots and finally I was able to do some of them. This is my favorite shot from a series we have done in one lovely canyon in Wadi Rum. Playing around with this kind of photography is really addictive and you keep coming with more and more ideas what to do and where to do it, therefore I look forward for more sessions.

The Colosseum, the iconic symbol of Imperial Rome, is probably the most impressive building of the Roman empire. Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, it was the largest building of the era. The monumental structure has fallen into ruins, but even today it is an imposing and beautiful sight. The elliptical building is immense, measuring 188m by 156m and reaching a height of more than 48 meter (159 ft). The Colosseum could accommodate some 55,000 spectators who could enter the building through no less than 80 entrances.
The building is awe-inspiring, and it’s not difficult to imagine the gruesome gladitorial contests, executions, mock sea battles, animal hunts and dramas that it hosted. It is estimated that more than 500,000 people and more than a million animals died in the Colosseum Games. The building remains partially ruined, a legacy from devastating earthquakes and stone robbers, but is still breathtaking in its architecture. And there is no shortage of plume-helmetted faux gladiators on hand for a photo opportunity should you wish to reanact your own battle.

Europe - France - Bretagne - Brittany - Plouzané - Phare du Petit Minou lighthouse in the roadstead of Brest standing in front of the Fort du Petit Minou
This must be one of my top favorite places in Bretagne, I realize I must have some kind of lighthouse (or seahouse as my friend calls it ;)) obsession !! It was really interesting to be at a different lighthouse in Normandy while it was really foggy and when we could not see even the beam of light from that particular lighthouse, that strong the fog was. We could just hear the sound, it was rather haunting experience.

Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles which is located around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire, south west England. It is located about twenty miles to the north of Stonehenge. The Avebury ring is the oldest stone ring that is known to be in existence anywhere in the world and is even older than Stonehenge. Unique amongst megalithic monuments, Avebury contains the largest stone circle in Europe, and is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain. It is currently used as both a tourist attraction and a place of religious importance to contemporary Pagans.
Constructed around 2600 BCE, during the Neolithic, or 'New Stone Age', the monument comprises a large henge, surrounded by a bank and a ditch. Inside this henge is a large outer stone circle, with two separate smaller stone circles situated inside the centre of the monument. Its original purpose is not known, although archaeologists believe that it was most likely used for some form of ritual or ceremonial usage. The Avebury monument was a part of a larger prehistoric landscape containing several older monuments nearby, including West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill.

I had the amazing opportunity to join a few of my talented colleagues for a special circuit of the LEGO House Masterpiece Gallery, where I am exhibiting through the holiday season until January!
While the gallery usually taps the skill and creativity of the fan community, for this round all of us displaying are 'internal'. Additionally, this time around there is a theme, too: 'coming home for the holidays'
BIONICLE is loved and remembered to this day in no small part due to the story, worldbuilding, lore, and how fleshed out the universe was. This includes fictional, in-universe holidays that are celebrated by the Matoran, giving this creation a place among the lineup of builds depicting real-world holidays.
While the Toa and the Matoran celebrate their first peaceful Naming Day since Makuta's shadow fell over Mata Nui, there is something else to celebrate here, too. 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of BIONICLE, something that I wanted to commemorate with this build by focusing on some of the first characters we were introduced to back in 2001.
I tried to pepper in a number of references and easter eggs to a lot of the media we got in the early years of BIONICLE, especially ones that were particularly formative for me, such as MNOG and the Chronicles books.
Some of the masks and Toa tools are the (well loved!) elements from my childhood sets. Between those and the Collectible Minifigure Series Bionicle Cosplayer, we're covering the full 25 year span of this legendary theme's legacy.
There are, of course, also some crabs.
Shoutout to Janwillem for help with some of the vegetation, and to Gustav and Dylan who lent me a white Akaku and Kopaka's sword, since time has not been kind to these elements in my own collection 😅
And of course, massive shoutout to the other exhibitors, as well as Hasan and our colleagues at LEGO House!

When you travel in Mongolia these gers (Yurts - tents) are the only type of the accomodation most of the time. It is very different experience - when they lit the fire in stove, the ger gets quickly hot and you feel like in a sauna, however as the fire dies through the night and there is nobody to feed it, it gets rather chilly at night and especially chilly in the morning. The possitive aspect of that is that it is easier to get up in the morning to capture wonderful light like this.

British Columbia is a very magical place where nature manifests its power and beauty in its best form. You just have to keep your eyes open and beautiful compositions will come themselves. This little island in Neilson Wetland is taking bath in wonderful lake surrounded by high mountains. Reflection you see is reflection of surrounding mountains.

To celebrate the wildlife conservation charity’s new giraffe house opening to the public, Lothian Bus1125 has been given a new design featuring a high impact giraffe print wrap and will run on various routes throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians this summer.
As the official transport partner for Edinburgh Zoo, Lothian Buses has over 30 zoo themed buses running on the 26 route and will also be supporting the zoo’s Giraffe About Town trail which will see over 40 huge giraffe sculptures displayed across the capital in summer 2022.
