In 2011, Inhotim joined the Brazilian government's official botanical garden association, and the staff has begun an inventory of its 5,000 plant species, including 1,300 types of palm alone. This represents more than 28% of botanical families known to man, and helped the institution receive the title of Private Reserve of Natural Patrimony of Inhotim (RPPN).
Inhotim Institute is the only place in Latin America that has the Carrion Flower, a species native to Asia and famous for being the biggest flower in the world. It is also known for the strong odor it releases when blooming, which has given it the alternative name of "corpse flower". In Inhotim, it bloomed for the first time on December 15, 2010, and again on December 27, 2012. The flower is located in the 'Viveiro Educador', in the Equatorial Greenhouse, and is open for visitation by the general public.
It was fascinating watching these Buzzards standing in line to feed on this dead Pheasant.The most dominant birds were always first in line whilst the smaller.presumably younger birds, would stand back and wait their turn to feed.

I found this wonderful abandoned crofe house on the island of Scalpay on Harris a couple of weeks ago and I could not resist pulling up and having my clients firing off a few shots before moving onto other locations.
The place was in a hell of a state but from high up on the moorland, it looked rather majestic in some outstanding scenery. I love photographing abandoned buildings and to wonder what kind of people once lived there interests me.
The sky was incredibly moody which lent a fantastic atmosphere to the scene. I hope you all like it. Feel free to share it if you wish :D

Yellowstone's Lewis River carved this impressive canyon on it's way to joining the Snake River.
Named after Meriwether Lewis. However, he didn't pass by here during his Corp of Discovery Expedition to the Pacific coast. They were much further North.

Storm join me looking over some trees I plan to cut down for firewood, and improve a pasture. I am sorry JJFET, I know it tears you apart to hear of violence against trees :-)
I didn't quite get the setttings right on the camera, but as you see from the sun I had only minutes (more like seconds) before it was gone and it was far from as bad as my first try. You can see that, and some more photos, in the first comment.
