A shot of the former Jenners Department Store where earlier in the week on Monday, January 23 a fire broke out. Smoke billowed out of the iconic building and 8 fire appliances with up to 40 firefighters were seen alongside other emergency services. Five firefighters were taken to hospital after battling the blaze and one sadly died.
The famous Jenners store in Edinburgh is a fabulous building with four or five levels and I could not resist a picture of its fine interior. I also managed to get my hands on a lovely handbag that was reduced from £70 to £19. What a lucky girl and what a lovely way to spend the morning.
I am definitely liking this format but composition is proving a little challenging, as this image shows. FP4 in Pyrocat

A morning hike at the Jenner Headlands. This is a single raw file captured with the Canon T2i. I hauled several cameras during that hike leaving one behind on a tripod to catch a timelapse of golden light illuminating on the hills. It was a cloudless sky however the dynamic rays casting shadows was epic. Later that morning the fog rolled in at the lower elevations by the water. 8100

Shortly after sunrise the eagle pair that call the Jenner area home, gathered together on Haystack Rock where the Russian River meets the Pacific. Both have an eagle eye out for lamprey eel, their favorite breakfast.
Jenners department store, Princes Street, Edinburgh. Closed for good?
This Jenners sign was removed from the facade of the building on Wednesday 14th April 2021. Following this, on 21st April 2021, Sports Direct Retail (who own the Frasers Group) were issued with an enforcement notice to reinstate the signage.

The signage was reinstated on May 17th 2021.
Charles Jenner and Charles Kennington opened a luxurious department store in Princes Street in 1838. By 1890 Charles Jenner & Co. had expanded to become the largest shop in Scotland. In November 1892, a fire destroyed the store. William Hamilton Beattie was engaged as the architect and the new Jenners store opened in 1895. The building was considered technologically modern with electric lighting, hydraulic lifts and air conditioning.

House of Fraser stores acquired Jenners in 2005. House of Fraser went into administration in August 2018 and was purchased from the administrators by Mike Ashley.
