Came across this while driving by, we did not have time to go inside but had to get a picture.

Today I went into central Edinburgh to meet Sarah Jane, who was passing through. It was fun, though she had a train to catch so it was a short meeting.

With the rest of the day to myself, I started with lunch in the restaurant at Jenners department store. It has a spectacular view over to the Scott Monument.

After trying on a couple of dresses there and visiting an art gallery, I ended in the evening by seeing The Girl On The Train (recommended).

Thanks, as always, for your visit and all of your support. Have a great week ahead! We are up on the Sonoma Coast for a few days, will catch up and post as time permits.

The Königssee is a lake located in the extreme southeast of the German state of Bavaria, near the border with Austria. It's all part of the Berchtesgaden National Park. Located at a Jurassic rift it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. It stretches about 7.7 km. The lake similar to a fjord is surrounded by steeply rising flanks of mountains up to 2700 m. The lake is noted for its clear water and is advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany. For this reason, only electric driven passenger ships, rowing and pedal boats have been permitted on the lake since 1909. Due to its picturesque setting, the lake and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. In addition, the lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo, which is known for its clarity. St. Bartholomä, a famous pilgrimage church with a small inn nearby, is located on a peninsula about halfway down the western lakeshore. St. Bartholomä and the southern edge can only be reached by boat or via hiking trails up the surrounding mountains.

A vertoramic view over the alpine mountains of the Konigssee and St. Bartholomä in the county of Berchtesgaden - Germany. Photo taken from the Jenner mountain top at the height of 1,870 meters where the beauty of the Berchtesgaden valley and Königssee can be viewed. An overwhelming bird's eye view above green meadows, past cliffy rocks and lake Königssee with all of its magnificence.

It was 80 degrees 4 less than the previous day, and I think their was less than 100 hundred people at the beach.

This image was taken at the Jenner Headlands Preserve. The weather permitted great visibility during our visit offering grand views of the landscape. Typically there can be fog that minimizes the view. As the light continued to fade I increased my shutter to catch the final light using a long exposure.

“I thought of you and how you love this beauty,

And walking up the long beach all alone

I heard the waves breaking in measured thunder

As you and I once heard their monotone.

Around me were the echoing dunes, beyond me

The cold and sparkling silver of the sea --

We two will pass through death and ages lengthen

Before you hear that sound again with me.”

Mesmerizing evening was coming down a few miles from Jenner, CA and I wanted to put this topsy truvy vista in perspective and include my new ride as the center peice. The idea struck me a few months back when I discovered this place on my way to the Redwoods National Park. I was finally able to execute it during thanskgiving break. I drove up from Bay Area and pulled over nearby and dozed off waiting for the evening to happen.

As the time was getting right, I started setting up the shot or rather shots. On a narrow side of the road I made enough space for my tripod and mounted my D810 with 24-70mm in potrait orientation and loosned the panning lever. Here I needed my wife to turn the camera and push the shutter realease button while I am driving on the road, stopping a few meters for a still shot. This way she took almost 16 shots to pan the entire vista. I then stiched in the LR6 taking off the ones on the far right side as there was too much distortion.

So there it is, my Jeep Grand Cherokee in five frames gracing the amazing Highway 1 with Pacific in the backdrop!
