Scenes from the Blizzard of January 2022:

For Cape Cod, it rained almost all night long. Then, just before dawn, it began to snow. For the first part of the day we got heavy wet snow that stuck to everything. By nightfall, as the temperatures dropped and the wind picked up, the snow had become light and fluffy. I watched the pressure drop over 30 mb over a 24 hour period, and with that, the intense wind delivered our predicted power outages. We lost power on Saturday night around 6 pm and got it back on Sunday night around 11pm. In our neighborhood, the storm snow total was about 16 inches.

My son, Max, celebrating his second birthday :-) He was waiting for his special homemade birthday donuts as we sang "happy birthday" to him, I don't think he liked waiting, or our singing lol.

January 11 - 11/365

I had to take another indoor shot today as the weather is so cold and horrible I didn't really want to go out.

Technically I'm on day 377 of taking a photo a day and I rather think I've run out of indoor things to shoot, everything remotely pretty or interesting in my house has already been photographed. I can't wait for the weather to improve so that I can take some more landscapes and outdoor stuff, roll on spring.

I searched around today and found some of the girls marbles, unfortunately the ones I found were a little scratched and scuffed, and I should have got the light tent out, again, lol.

I think I'll buy some new marbles one day and light them properly, I think then they'll make a good colour shot. I'm sort of in a black and white mood at the moment though.

Recent below zero nightly temperatures makes for some beautiful frost covered weeds on a chilly day in late January.

"Jack Frost is a personification of frost, ice, snow, sleet, winter, and freezing cold. He is a variant of Old Man Winter who is held responsible for frosty weather, nipping the fingers and toes in such weather, coloring the foliage in autumn, and leaving fern-like patterns on cold windows in winter."

Red skies over Caversham this morning. Photo a day challenge doubling up as Challege Friday, theme Red.

The winter landscapes began in late October they are often based around Ipsden or Oxfordshire locations, most were drawn in or near to my car on the way to work. They are often bleak open places, influenced by Graham Sutherland's etchings or Rembrandt's small landscapes, they are bisected by the page divide.

Pen and ink pages from my current sketchbook. I drew these with Faber Castell artist's pens, mostly SX S and Fine, black and sepia on trav.e.logue hand book manufactured by Global art materials Kansas City.

Following my copies after Cezanne last year, I have gone on to work at drawings almost every day throughout 2010, they form a visual diary and also fit in well with themes and earlier drawings over the years. I have a selection of pages from my sketchbooks since 1980 on Flickr.
