Rocket went to the vet today to get his teeth cleaned. He got morphine, acepromzine, diazepam, propofol and other goodies. He was glad to be home on his couch, but still seemed a little out of it (the eyes don't lie...).
The good thing: no major dental issues for the pooch...
So, remember, kids: only dopes use dope...
Project 365! - Day 305
In January 2023 the UK Government launched a scheme to cap single bus fares in England to £2. More than 130 operators signed up to the fare cap including Transdev Blazefield which added triangular “Price Drop” vinyls to its buses to promote the scheme as photographed on The Burnley Bus Company’s Witchway branded ADL Enviro 400 MMC 2007 (SK70BWC) at Chorlton Street, Manchester on 9 January 2023. The fare cap was originally intended to run until 31 March 2023 but was later extended to 30 June 2023.
I'm quite fond of blackbirds... a 'dapper' rather than 'showy' bird.....but the male can certainly 'carry a tune'!!

SWEET COOKIES DON'T GET BAKED
Is said to a child who is not satisfied with what he is given or does not want to do what he is asksed to do, but says he would rather have or do something else.
Also: the baker who prefers to bake cookies is dead, or the sweet cookie baker is dead. This lieverkoek or liefkoek is reminiscent of the 16th-century lijfkoeck, liefkoeck, lijfcouck and lijfcoucbackere, which is found in Flemish documents.
Of course, you can't take a picture of cookies that you can't bake, very stubborn of me to try it anyway.

Fox squirrels on my second day at work in the new year, Wednesday January 3rd, 2024. Taken on a quiet day at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Also saw a red squirrel by the President's House. Wishing you joy, health, and peace wherever you are.

With 17 minutes to go, runners are getting ready to run their half-marathon race on a cold, windswept golf course in Kanata (Ottawa). The temperature is minus 22°C, and the "wind chill" is minus 33°C.
Canadians...we're a hardy bunch!!

Taken during a winter's day on campus - Friday January 16, 2015. With this batch, I have surpassed 11K (that is 11,000) squirrel pictures at the University of Michigan....uhm...well, it could be a worse hobby. I even had a climber to celebrate the occasion!
Squirrels out and about on an overcast and somewhat mild winter day in January. Got my first climber of the year - I think they like brown pants! Also noticed some mating going on (January is definitely that time of year) and a squirrel who reminds me of Donald Trump… Taken on Friday January 15, 2016 in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan.
Illuminated medieval city walls of Aigues-Mortes, Nîmes, in Occitanie, France, are shown at night. The stone walls, lit by evenly spaced ground lights, create a stark contrast against the deep blue sky. A paved path runs alongside the walls, bordered by patches of green grass. The scene is calm and atmospheric, highlighting the historical architecture in the quiet of January 2023.
15th January 2017:
We saved our pudding until this evening after a light snack. Chocolate brownies, caramel ice-cream and a dollop of cream. Served up in the best china as they're the only bowls that produce a decent photo and I used one of the posh spoons.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)
January 30 Orlando Magic vs. Cleveland Cavaliers at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. This was the 20th loss in a row for the Cavs but a fantastic arena for watching an NBA game or any sporting event for that matter.
Puddle Reflections…
Last week on our walk we took our time, sauntering along the half frozen pathway sidestepping the deep puddles and trying not to slip on the ice.
At one point along the path Karen noticed this reflection in the puddle, she quickly snapped his shot and we moved on. it was only today when I took a closer look at t some of the images we had taken, I thought this was quite unique. so the blue asphalt would be at the top of the image and the ice would be a t the bottom.
I inherited the image and flipped it it upside down to make it look like a landscape.

Snow Drift... .
A heavy winter storm dumped over a foot and half of snow on us Wednesday night. We spent the better part of Thursday morning digging out.
No sooner had we finished then the snow plow came by and buried the end of the lane way with a huge pile of snow. more digging and stiff muscles and joints and we managed to break free of the wall of snow.
This is a photo of our sliding glass doors and the snow drift that was at least three feet high up against the glass.

Tallest peak just right of center are North and South Truchas Peaks, over 13,000' (+3900m) elevation.
This palm is native to Tropical Asia now sparingly naturalized in southern Florida and in parts of Africa and Latin America. Caryota mitis has clustered stems up to 10 m (33 feet) tall and 15 cm (6 inches) in diameter. Leaves can be up to 3 m (10 feet) long. Each leaf is made of many pairs of leaflets shaped like tail fins that give this palm its name.
